19-3-2009 - Trystian 1 year update

My mood while writing this blog: Ok

Trystian is getting so big!!! He goes in for his 1 year well baby on the 30^th of March.

Let’s see, he is about 23 lbs right now according to our scale…

He can stand on his own! But he prefers to still hold on and cruise!! My husband caught him one day standing on his own not holding on or leaning on anything, he pulled the table away so that you could see him doing it better and was going to snap a picture so that I can see, and then Trystian decided to plop back down and crawl… He crawls everywhere he cant cruise!!

He has such an attitude lately too!! He knows the word “NO” and says it and shakes his head when he doesn’t want to do something, or is telling you “no” when he wants to disobey you… He is so smart and loves to change the dvds and cds in the players… My hubby tells me that he will just go, turn on the dvd player, open the player and wait for the thing to pop out, take the dvd out and put a new one in!! Of course this is suppose to be off limits for him to do, but Daddy lets him sometimes to see what exactly he is doing… Trystian loves to play with his blocks, he loves to knock down the blocks you build, and then he will be so excited he did! He likes his walking toys, especially the Rocket from Little Einstein’s that makes noise, he can ride it, or he can pull himself up and walk with it.

He recognizes many things!! He says Cat, Dog, Mama, Dad, No, Hi, Bye, Milk. You can ask him where something is, and he will usually go find it!!! For example, ask him where the blue circle is, and he will go find his blue circle!! Or ask him where Annie is, and he will go find his Little Einstein’s Annie figurine!! He is so smart!

Trystian know’s how to open the dog kennel, so he will crawl/cruise to the kennel and unlatch the dog so he can play with him!!!

He hates his teeth to be brushed lately! He will say and shake his head “NO” and push the toothbrush away and shut his mouth really tight!! He wont brush his own teeth but instead will bite and pull out the bristles on the brush, then throw the toothbrush down and try to get out of my arms to run away!!!

He seems to be on a little bit of a food strike lately too! The past week starting around 9 March, he wants Milk, and yogurt, likes his breakfast foods like toast, and bagels… But after that, he will spit his food out of his mouth and just keep his tongue sticking out!! He used to love vegetables, meat, breads, and other foods… now he seems to only want fruits and yogurt, cheese, and his cereal snacks… That’s it… I thought I would never have a picky eater because of everything he would eat before!!! I will bring this up to the Dr. but from what I have read and have been told, that he will eat when he is hungry and not to force him. He is just trying to show his independence and doesn’t want the food we have and is trying to maybe just get what he wants!!... We will talk to the dr of course like I said, but still, I wish he would eat more food!!!

I also put him to bed last night- 18 March and noticed that apparently he has freyed the crib rail… Not the top of it, not the part that we have rubbery stuff on to prevent crib damage… but in fact the side rail on the underside… I was a little upset at this, but there is not much at all that I can do!!! I know that I can only really sand it down so that it’s not going to cause splinters… I know that he can almost pull himself over and get out of the crib, so we will be trying to move to the real twin size bed soon anyhow, but I was hoping for my son to stay a “baby” longer…

I feel like Trystian went from cute and cuddly baby boy to Very independent growing up kid, who has his own attitude and wants to do everything the hard way and without us!! I feel like I missed a whole part of his life!!! I mean he is only a year old!!! What happened to the rely on Mama and Dada days?? Like overnight they were gone!!!!!!!!

Funny story- 18 March- He didn’t want to eat much, but I was able to get him to eat a cheese stick… He ate most of it then decided to just play with it that he was done… Well I asked him if he was done “Trystian are you done eating?”… His response was “no”… Then I asked him to please eat his cheese… He looked at me and smiled and started batting around “meaning that he was all done” and I told him to “Don’t you dare feed that cat!”… His response was throwing the cheese onto the floor half way across the room near the cat… then get this he says “Here cat” then laughs!!! I started to laugh myself, but had to hold my composure, and then picked him up, picked up the cheese, threw the cheese away and took Trystian to his room to start our night time routine!!
