My mood while writing this blog: tired |
So Jed and I just got back from the city where we had our first meeting with our Doula Lauren( and the back up Doula Catherine). I was really happy because i felt comfortable with both of them. And I mean isn't that what I will be looking for during Labor, comfort? Jed really liked both of them too. She basically said that she was there solely for me, from running out to get a bite to eat or coffee for Jed to anything I need in the moment. I still want Jed to do suff during the birth but it will be nice to have an experienced person there who has seen a labor before! I will be mostly laboring at my parents friend Apt which is about 20 blocks from the hospital. Lauren says she like to not bring the moms to the hospital until around 10 Cm!! Which I thought was crazy but I guess with so many hospitals jumping into C-sections so quickly now a days the east time you have to spend in one the better. But I think that i'll end up wanting to go a bit before that so it's not like I get there and have to start pushing right away! It's hard to know how i'll fel because I've never been through it before. I could feel the total opposite of how i think I am going to feel. She also gave me all these questions to ask my doctor, like how she feel about inducing or letting me go past 40 weeks. I don't want to be induced if at all possible and I would like to try for a natural birth with possible too. I mean women all over the world give birth without pain killers, I figure I should at least give it a go. Thats not to say that i won't take the Epidural if i'm in too much pain. ha. Anyway- are any of you getting a Doula or birthing coach?

Wednesday, 12 Aug Im in your exact boat. I'm having a duola too. We're going to go to a local hotel to labor because my house can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour from the hospital so pretty much once I feel that first contraction we'll head to the hotel. I will be attempting to go all natural too. I think it's somewhat crazy that we cant take ANY medication during our pregnancy and then when we're at a pretty important part they want to drug you all up lol. Can't be great for the baby that is technically still attached to you even if you are trying to get it out lol. Glad I'm not the only one that thinks I can at least give it a go without pain medication.
