My mood while writing this blog: relieved

Hello everyone!!

I just got home from the hospital and thought I would update my profile!!

We welcomed baby Bentley yesterday @ 12:19pm!!

Weight: 11pounds 1ounce

Length: 23 inches long

Thank GOD for the Epidural & a fast/safe delivery!!!

Well... I called the hospital a little before we were supposed to be there (as instructed), and they told me to be there @ 6:15, so we arrived @ the hospital then. They took me immediately back to my labor/delivery/recovery room. I put on the gown & laid in the bed (Gavin thought it was halarious seeing me in the gown)!! The lady came back in & told me it would be a little bit before they came back to hook me up because they had gotten really busy. (that was totally fine by me, because that would give me a few extra minutes to spend with Gavin & to let it sink in that I'm about to deliver a baby:) So, Gavin played with his cars for awhile, and about 7:00 the nurse (which happen to be the SAME one I had with GAVIN) came in and hooked me up!! I was EXTREMELY excited to see her, and thrilled to be able to go through it with someone I was comfortable with!! So, she started my I.V. then checked me, and said I was a 4-5. They started the pitocin drip, and an hour later, my doctor came in and checked me & I was at 7. They immediately turned down my pitocin, then broke my water. I laid there for about an hour longer, toughing out the contractions, then finally I asked for the epidural. About 9:45 the anestesiologist (sp?) came in and started it. It was EXTREMELY hard for me to bend over for him to start it because the position of Bentley's head! OUCH! After that, the nurse checked me & I was at 9. I laid back down, and waited for the epidural to kick in!!! A little while later I started to feel releif, then eventually nothing but numbness!! The nurse had me sit up in the bed, to help move him a little better into position. At 11:30, she checked me & I was at 10:) She called my doctor, and told her to head over. I said....OMG, I HOPE SHE DRIVES FAST!! lol, I was panicking. The nurse said, "I promise she does, I've rode with her before"!! lol.... We all got a good laugh!! The nurse had me do a few small pushes with a couple of contractions, just to get him ready. With the 2nd push you could see his RED hair!! Never, would I have imagined he would have red hair. So, I had the time from then, and the time my doctor arrived to try to picture what my son was going to look like!! She got there, got everything prepared, suited up... the whole 9 yards. The last time I remember looking it the clock it was 12:10. They said with the next contraction I want you to push.... I did so through three contractions, and HELLO BENTLEY QUAID!!! He was born at 12:19pm, with LONG red hair!!! He is absolutely beautiful! I didn't tear at all, which really surprised me & everyone else!!! I'm so thankful.......

Now, I know why I was so constipated, miserable & feeling all that pressure!!! 11 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!! I would have NEVER guessed!

Anyway, that's all I have time to write for now!!

P.S. Gavin absolutely ADORES him!
