27-11-2009 - Our FIRST Thanksgiving as a family

My mood while writing this blog: thankful

Yesterday was a wonderful first thanksgiving together for our family. It wasn't exactly Garrett's FIRST but it was his first where he actually ate real food. lol.. He seemed to enjoy it. Not sure when we'll get to have another holiday like this together with DH's upcoming deployment next summer but I am very thankful to have him home and safe with us for now. We spent the morning playing outside, walking, taking pictures and it was COLD but fun and I spent Garrett's 3 hours of naptime preparing food and we ate around 6pm and stuffed ourselves. The food was great and the (dead, fully cooked) turkey was amazing.. I think I will ALWAYS buy a precooked turkey because it cut down alot of stress and opened up our schedule to do other things. I didn't go black friday shopping because I looked at the "leaked" list of what was going to be on sale and nothing looked worth it. Apparently someone here locally got trampled at ToysRus and had to be hospitalized. I told DH about the man who died last year getting trampled at Walmart on black friday and he was shocked.. People are so stupid.. I mean, how do you trample someone to death.. that's insane. Anyways, DH and I walked the mall a little while ago and there were still lines wrapped twice around the stores. We weren't impressed with the sale items we saw so I don't feel like I missed out on much. We've decided to just stuff each other's stocking this year as our gift to one another and nothing big. We bought a lens for our camera as our family gift and really that's all I want since I'm a photo-aholic. lol.. Anyways, I hope the rest of you US mamas had a wonderful turkey day as well.
