04-10-2009 - Made it to Week 18

My mood while writing this blog:
Ok

Overall, I feel good on a daily basis. My feet and hands get puffy and the headaches still happening time to time. My weight gain rate is slower now as I am also trying to eat healthier foods. Of course every so often I get hit by the fried chicken or some cake cravings. Tomorrow is amnio day. I am still scared a bit but thinking about the alternative that what if i have a retarded baby is scaring me even more. I talked to my doctor and she also said that if she was me she would go for it. So, I guess I just have to pray hard and believe we are going to be fine.
A few of you gave me great support and I really appreciate it. I don't have a family in the US so that makes these times a bit harder. My belly is growing and strangely it looks and feels always somewhat smaller in the morning than in the evening. I was 128 lbs when I got pregnant which is a bit lower than my usual weight and now I am 147 lbs. I am not too worried about the weight thing as I've never been really fat in my life and I am disciplined so I know I can loose most of it. Actually, a lot of this extra weight is the baby (amnio fluid, baby, placenta, extra blood) so we need to factor that in and see what the net gain is. lol..
I have a few stretch marks but I will go and get some more creams for that today. I can still fit into some of my pants (well if they stay below my belly) which is good news. Maternity stuff is expensive. I'm having a 2nd level u/s done on Oct. 16th. It will be exciting.

Sounds like your doing good. Don't scratch if you have an itch on your belly or back. That prevents stretch marks. I use 100%cocoa butter in the tub. I gained more weight than I thought too. Too much fried chicken for me too. That's funny. Oh well! Don't worry we'll loose it.
