| 09-7-2009 - This is long and probably boring to you guys, but I need to ramble... | My mood while writing this blog:anxious, scared, tired, freaking out... all kinds of moods... |
So I might be freaking about nothing really because it will all eventually get done... but I'm still freaking out none the less.
Today is the 9th of July... as of August 31st, 2009 we have to be moved out of my apartment. That gives us 7 weeks... not enough time in my mind and now I'll start telling you why.
We plan to have a yard sale August 1st to get rid of all of our accumulated junk and get some more money as well. Problem is neither of us has even begun to go through anything but clothes. We have 2 storage units and 2 places to go remove clutter from. And we have a lot of crap! How we got all of this I just don't know since my place felt empty when we moved into this very tiny apartment 2 years ago.
We were hoping to be moved by the middle of August because we have to replace the carpeting in my apartment, thanks to that sweet little puppy of ours. And I refuse to let my landlord keep $1200 for carpet that is only going to cost us about $300 to replace.
But at this point we still have quite a lot to do in his place. It has come along very nicely; he and his guy have been busting their butts over there lately. BUT we still need the hot water heater (which is apparently being bought by a couple friends as a baby gift for us, but these friends are HUGE procrastinators and we're a little worried), a new toilet, a kitchen sink (which we can't pick out or buy until the plumber comes and checks the water pressure to make sure the sink he wants will work there and he hasn't called the plumber yet!!!!), a new flue for the wood stove, and we also need about $2000 in finishing wood for the custom cabinetry they are building.
They also need to finish putting up the dry wall in the kitchen, living room and hallway. Once all of this is in we paint every room and stain all the wood! And after we paint they will be laying carpet in the 2 bedrooms and laminate flooring through the hallway and living room, along with tile in the entry way. Granted, the master bedroom is almost complete aside from carpeting. They built the closet last weekend and are putting all the wall shelves up this week. So I am hoping that I can go in there and paint next Friday so that all that room needs is carpet.
The baby’s room doesn’t really need much in the way of work other than paint, new carpet and some type of an organizational unit installed in the closet. So I’m hoping he will let me paint that room next Friday too, but right now it’s basically storage so the rest of his place can be completely empty while they work. But if they’re just going to scuff up all the walls putting stuff back in there for storage than I won’t paint yet. AND we still have to set up an appointment for the new carpet to be installed in my apartment once we’re out of there… which I can’t schedule until we know when we’re moving.
So am I crazy or is this a whole lot to do in the next 5 to 6 weeks, 7 at the most. And if it’s going to be 7 weeks than I don’t get the time to replace the carpet in my place and there goes $1200 that we could really use right now since we also need new living room furniture. I mean we really need it. The couch cushions have cardboard under them because the springs were coming up through the fabric and we didn’t want to bother getting new stuff until we moved out of my apartment. We weren’t counting on a baby being part of our move at that time; a lot has changed for us this year. And I have to help my work move to our new offices sometime over a weekend in August…
So
We’re supposed to go see a friend’s art sale in Maryland in 2 weeks
~ yard sale is in 3 weeks
~ I have a baby shower to go to in 4 weeks
~ my birthday is in 5 weeks
~ my shower is in 6 weeks (and if his "our" place isn’t ready it all goes right to storage L)
~ we have to be out of my place in 7 weeks at most
~ his 30th birthday is in about 9 weeks
Then we have about 6 weeks to be completely ready for baby to arrive and s/he could be there earlier than we’re expecting
BUT WAIT! It doesn’t stop there!! Do I have you laughing at me or crying for me yet? If you’re even still reading this…
4 weeks after baby is due will be Thanksgiving
4 weeks after that will be Christmas
and then a few days after Christmas, around the 27th of December, we will be heading out for a 3 week trip to California. We will be going up and down the Northern Coast visiting all of his family out there and my Dad and his family so they can all meet the little one while I'm on leave instead of using vacation time. Then we’ll head down to Southern California so we can spend a week or so with his Mom and her family. Then we’ll head back home just in time for me to enjoy 1 last week before I have to come back to this crappy job I don’t care for… and that last week for me to enjoy is based on the fact that I go into labor at the end of October rather than the beginning or the middle… I’m feeling ready to lose it…
AND I have no idea where we're getting the money for ALL of this...
Thanks for letting me vent ladies, even if nobody reads this I feel slightly better getting it all off my chest and not flipping out on Tyrus about any of it.
