30-5-2009 - Rylees follow up

Hi everyone,
We had Rylees appointment on the 28th, and I am pleased to say, that everything is ok.

She has been diagnosed with a heart defect called Pulmonary valve stenosis which is a narrowing and/or hardening of the pulmonary valve. She had an echocardiogram done about two weeks ago. It was showing a 48% blockage. Today was her appointment with the pediatric cardiologist. They did another echo, and it showed only a 24% blockage. Fortunately, her condition is not as severe as originally thought. There is no further treatment required as of right now. She will need yearly echocardiograms to keep an eye the valve and artery, but should not get any worse. The specialist said that she is a normal healthy baby and that her condition will have no effect on the quality of her life.

A word of advice- If you can go to a specialist, go.. They are specialists for a reason.
