| 14-4-2009 - ER visit last night! AHH!! | My mood while writing this blog:Sad and Sleepy |
I had had some pretty strong contractions last week that were frequent when they came and had called my dr and the hospital to see what they wanted me to do about it. Everyone told me if they weren't regular to just not worry and wait until the appt with my specialist (this Thursday) and that he would have to handle it. Ok. Pretty crappy, but ok. It had been 6 days since my last strong contraction and I had been on my back the whole time except for school and church stuff but last night I went pee and noticed a larger than normal piece of yellow mucus floating in the toilet. With my first son, I had had random contractions for 2 weeks before, passed a complete mucus plug, and was in labor that night so as you could imagine I was balling like a baby. I called my husband who was at Wal-Mart getting milk and he dropped the milk in the isle and raced home. I then called l/d at 2 hospitals. The first told me unless I was having regular contractions and bleeding, don't come in and the second said they wouldn't tell me what to do but passing mucus is a sign of cervical change. I decided to go anyways and when they hooked me up to the monitor to everyone's shock I was having regular frequent contractions that were getting stronger. I wasn't dilated but they couldn't feel my cervix (a sign that it might have thinned). They hooked me up to a IV as fast as it could run and gave me a shot of breathine that burned like fire. The breathine stopped my smaller contractions but 30 minutes later I had a huge one. 15 min after that they decided there was nothing more they could do without the specialist and sent me home and said "well, we would monitor the fetus but you're only 22 weeks so, you know". Yeah, I know. I know they don't consider the baby viable until 24 weeks but I know they can control labor for 20 wks given the effort.
Today my regular OB has not called me back so I am taking it upon myself to call the specialist to try to get an early appt. No one in my family feels like my OB is taking care of me and it is very upsetting to all of us. I feel so helpless because I am doing everything I know to do for myself and the baby and am still having probs. It is all very upsetting. Please pray for me, baby Gabriel, Josh, and Cadence.
