| 15-4-2009 - Specialist visit and results! | My mood while writing this blog:RELIEVED!!! |
Well, Praise the Lord/Hallelujah/Thank You Jesus! Divine intervention has occured in Sarah's (my real name) life! After a very curt and disapproving conversation with my reg OB, I took it upon myself to call the specialist and update him on my episode the other night. He wanted me to come in first thing the next morning which was today. After a 1 hour ultrasound that reviewed every part of the baby and my cervix and uterus, we received answers as to what was happening and what we were going to do about it...
1. Baby is perfect! He is 1 lb 2 oz, 4 days ahead of schedule, and head down. 2. My cervix is not dilated or effaced and is extra long for some reason 3. My uterus is not bad enough to have caused preterm labor by itself last time. A uti that turned into a kidney infection did most of it so we can do "just-in-case" antibiotics to prevent labor! 4. There is a hormone shot that I can take once a week for people with my condition that stops contractions and dilation.
All of this put together I have between a 50 and 70% better chance of not having this baby early! I can still go to school as long as my clinicals are no longer than 4 hours and am not on bedrest unless my cervix shortens. I was also told not to worry about contractions unless there are 4 or more in an hour. I actually have hope now! I might actually get to be a big pregnant women throughout the summer that lives off of snow cones. I might actually get to hold my baby in my arms when he is born. I might actually get to be normal! My mom thinks I'm crazy, but I'm going to ask this doc about VBAC. This might be my last baby and I know alot of us are dreading all these things about being pregnant, but I want them so bad! I want to gain back everything that I was deprived of last time, and heck, I might even do it all in a big tub full of water if they let me! I love you all, pray for you all, and feel blessed to have "sisters" on here to share our experiences with!
