I figured this would be easier than to email everyone seperately!
So, yesterday! WHEW! I really think that Drew's shots affected mommy more than they did baby Drew. Patrick went with us and I was so glad that we were both there for him. We had spoken to the Dr. at Drew's 2 week check up about all the shots that he would get at one time and he said that what we've all seen on the news and on the internet is not really the way that it is with getting their shots all at one time. Both of the Pediatricians have babies themselves and said that they wouldn't give other babies the 5 shots all at one time if they thought for one second that it was going to put them in any kind of danger. I asked again yesterday about getting them all done and Patrick and I decided that rather than have Drew get a couple here and there, we would just go ahead and get them done.
The nurse gave Drew one of the shots orally and that went over good. Then for the doozies! Yeppers, my poor little baby beans got stuck in the leg the first time and didn't know what got him. Then his little face turned beat red and he screamed so loud. OMG, I felt so bad. I just held him and kept saying, "I'm sorry baby, I love you, Mommy and Daddy are right here"! Then came the second stick. YIPES! I could feel my legs start to hurt and then...........it was over.
The Dr. did tell us that Drew might get a fever from one of the shots and he did. 100.9 last night. THAT was scary. I've always heard that if a baby gets a fever you really have to watch him close in case it gets too high. We gave him some infant Tylenol and he went right to sleep. Drew has been sleeping in his crib for the last couple of weeks but last night he slept in his bassinet next to us in our room. That way I could watch him.
So far this morning, Drew has eaten 2 times and just keeps sleeping.
I guess he is saving all his energy to shoot off fireworks tonight!
Thanks for all your prayers.
