My mood while writing this blog: Ok |
Well Mommies! For the first time in a very long time I am feeling very helpless. Since Sunday Drew has been teething so hard with his first 2nd year molar. (I don't know why they call it their 2nd year molar). He never fusses or cries with much of anything but he is sure is having the worst time. I worked all day on Sunday and Patrick took care of him and poor Drew really was having a tough day. Patrick told me that it might be a tough day for us yesterday and it was. Yesterday I actually could see this horrific hole in his gums and the tooth had finally broken through and it was bleeding. He just wouldn't keep it little fingers out of his mouth. He didn't eat much today and to top it off we now have another problem at hand. DIAPER RASH! Mommies, it's so bad too. I took off his diaper and he screamed so loud. I didn't even touch his bottom. I patted him gently down with a cool washcloth and then covered his little bum in Desitin. I am so hoping that it eases up soon. Bless his little heart. He's had a slight fever and some seriously dirty diapers for the last 3 days.
Okay, so he screams, cries, won't eat, doesn't want to be held, doesn't want to play too much on his own. OMG, I FEEL SO HELPLESS!!! I want to make him feel so comfortable and make the pain go away but bless his heart, this darn tooth!!!
On top of everything else, Mommy here woke up this morning with a scratchy throat and tonight (8:36 pm) (right now) my throat is feeling a bit sore.
LORD, I canNOT be getting sick. NO WAY.
Do any of you mommies out there have any gentle home remedies for Diaper Rash or teething with the molars?
Keep all the teething babies in your thoughts and prayers.
It will get better!

Thursday, 18 Jun Hiya Martine my friend - You are not alone. My goodness Pollyanna has been exactly the same as Drew. My happy little bunny is so distressed and medicine & natural remedies just don't seem to really help. I read that agummybear left you a note to say that her baby has a haematoma inside its mouth...this is what Pollyanna has too!!!???I noticed yesterday when I got back from work. Kinda looks like a huge blood blister on the gum. I have been wondering what it is. Thought she must have bit her gums or something. We can see 2 molars and possibly alot more too. My husband put his finger in her mouth and thinks that she has quite a few coming through all at the same time. Just awful isn't it. When I try and hold her she straightens up and almost slips out of my hands....let me know how Drew gets on over the next few weeks if you can. Our babies will be back soon hopefully. I know that the first 2 years are the hardest for teething then it should all be over :O) Nina x agummybear -
Wednesday, 17 Jun Ohhh. I feel you pain and can only imagine Drew's pain. Mikey is cutting two molars and he had a big dark purple hematoma on his gums and he was so sad. I gave him Tylenol and a cold wet wash cloth to chew on. For bad diaper rash I get the ORIGINAL Desitin in the tub and I cake it on really thick (make sure his butt is dry first). I also used warm water and cotton balls instead of wipes. Hop that helps. Good Luck. Alicja17 -
Wednesday, 17 Jun Martine, none of the ointments worked for us. My mom suggested to make camimille tea and just use it everytime you change the daper instead of wipes. It helped us, everything healed in 3 days. mommyto2girls -
Tuesday, 16 Jun Oh sweetie. thats not fun. I totally agree with blessing8168. I use Boudreaux's butt paste and its awesome. I used to work for a pediatrician and definetly dont use wipes. Use a wash cloth or if its really bad put him in the bath. Poor little drew. Oh yes the motrin/tylenol combo will help a lot. If it dont get better with all that I would take him to the dr just to be safe. Those can be painful.
Rylee is teething and is sooo cranky. Poor baby has had a fever and just so uncomfortable. I can only imagine how tough it is with the molar.
Keep in touch, blessing8168 -
Tuesday, 16 Jun Oh momma!! I know that feeling all too well and hopefully I can help. Boudreaux's butt and A&D ointment is by far the best. Seriously go out now and get some!! Destin, Balmex is crap. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! The diaper rash is because of the teething. Right now why this molar is coming through keep him on a motrin and tylenol combo. Motrin every 6 hours and Tylenol every 4 hours. Seriously keep a log and stay on this schedule. Then give him lots of hugs and kisses. Oh yeah, do not wipe his bummy with wipes, use a warm wash cloth and make sure his bum is completely dry before you apply the ointment and the diaper. Presley had 9 teeth, including his 1st molar and this is what we did and we survived it! No worries momma, you are a great mom and Drew will get through this.
WE LOVE YOU!!!! Give my Drew bear some huggies and kisses from his Aunt Sue!!!
Oh yeah and I feel horrible!! I did not send Mr. Drew a card on his birthday. I am so bad about that and I have just been so sick. I am so sorry girl! You were so sweet to mail Pres one. I didn't want you to think we didn't care.
Love you!!! tquinn -
Tuesday, 16 Jun My daughter is 6yrs. old and still in diapers. She's autistic. What we do if it's really bad is cake on the desitan, not the clear the white stuff then on top of that put a good dose of powder it actually works really well. We always giggle it's like plaster but whatever it takes to give comfort. Usually by the next day even it looks a lot better. The diaper at night is the one that really helps heal. luvbeingamom -
Tuesday, 16 Jun For the teething, tylenol. For the diaper rash, try putting hydrocortizone cream 1% on his bum twice a day. It will make a world of difference. Also, use "Butt Paste" the rest of the time. Good luck! I am sorry, that is the worst, feeling helpless when it comes to your LO's pain.
