03-6-2008 - Heatbeat... Girl or Boy???

We just had our doctor's appointment this morning and we were finally able to hear the heartbeat. Last appt (May 6th) the doc couldn't find it. She said it might have been because my uterus was just a little below my pubic bone still. Either way, we heard it this time and it was beautiful! Fred was in awe... He was sitting down in the chair and when the swoosh, swoosh, swoosh started he slowly stood up and walked over to me. He stared at my stomach and grabbed my hand. It was really sweet.

I thought I was going to cry but I was in such disbelief that I just stared up at the ceiling and listened with such intent. I didn't want the doctor to take the doopler away. I could have listened to that beautiful sound all day.

Well, the big news is that it was 150 bpm. According to the wonderful myths, that says we should be having a girl. (140 and up = girl; 140 and below = boy). I know it is just a myth but it is fun to speculate. I'm very torn on what I want to have. At first is was all about boy. Now it seems to be all about girl, even before we knew the heartbeat. I've been thinking girl for the past 3-4 weeks. Who knows... Either way, Fred and I are blessed. I hope all is well with my fellow preggos. Have a wonderful month!

When my mom was pregnant with me (a pregnancy for which she never had apositive pregnancy test) the doctor was SURE I was a boy because my HB was never above 135......WRONG!!! My boys all had a little slower heartbeats, though.
