10-6-2009 - 15 week News OkMy mood while writing this blog:
Ok

The past week has been the saddest in my life so far... I learned that my triple screen results put me at an "increased risk" for having a baby with down syndrome. I cried, I prayed, and I questioned my faith, but at the end my husband and I agreed that we needed to know. On Monday, I went in for an amniocentesis and on Tuesday afternoon I received a call from the Genetics doctor. The results are NORMAL!

OMG!! So GLAD that everything turned out well for you & baby!! :) I just went through the same thing - I'm 40, NT scan at 14w came back at 2.2, then crappy Quad-Sceen - Age risk: 1 in 81, Assessed Risk (from blood work) 1 in 214 (my levels were low in both hCG & AFP - possibly indicating T-18!!) Your risk sounds scary as hell, and I can only imagine how worried you were, cuz I know I was a WRECK!! for weeks... I didn't do amnio, I was too worried about the m/c risk - though, the thought was VERY much in my mind. I opted to wait for the 20-week u/s which was scheduled for 3 days after I finally got the b/w results (glad I didn't have to wait weeks for that, too!) Anyway, I hope that other women going through that same thing will stumble across our stories & find some comfort in them - Lord knows I was Googling my ass off... LOL! Best of Luck!! Oh, and isn't it nice to finally ENJOY the pregnancy, rather than WORRY every single second?? Oh yeah!! :o)
