29-9-2008 - drs appt OkMy mood while writing this blog:
Ok

I had a routine drs appt this morning. I had decided to wait till this morning to bother bringing up a cold i have i figured if they thought it was bad enough they would just write a script for antibiotics no big deal. Everything is fine with the baby she had a good strong heart beat, and of course as usual she was fighting the sonogram lol (thats my baby!!!). Anyways they didnt seem to worried about the cold and just told me to get in with a regular general practioner since my other one doesnt wanna take peachstate anymore. and they told me she was measuring big ( i dont know if she was measuring big or if i was the one actually measuring big lol i dont think she took into consideration that i was big to begin with. anyways they said they are gonna enduce me at 38 weeks (YAY only 1 month and 22 days to go TG!!!) i have another drs appt with the specialist on wednsday which im sorry but i love the people at the specialist they are sooo much more personal and thats including the ladies behind the desk. they are all really sweet they just have one dr that im not crazy about. and TG i have only seen him one time there. but back to the other drs. i had left already when they called me to tell me they wanted the number for the pharmacy i would like to go to cause they were going to call in a z-pack and advair for me cause after talking to the dr they didnt wanna risk it turning into pnuemonia or me having a full out asthma attack. Well i call the pharmacy about an hour after i get home to see if they called in my prescription and they hadnt yet, and i waited a little longer to make sure my nephew got home from school ok.and of course since i didnt get to go lay back down and get some more sleep this morning when i got my youngest nephew on the bus i laid down on the couch to watch tv, and passed out. when i woke up i called the pharmacy back and they had the prescriptions ready for pick up. this was at 5 o'clock . i go to read the instructions on how to use the advair inhaler and got to looking at the warnings part and i start freaking out which makes my fiance and my mom both freak out when i tell them what it says. it says clearly on the front side to discuss if you have certain problems before you take this. well guess what i have 2 of the problems one of them being pregnant and it says that taking this medication while pregnant may cause harm to your unborn baby. im sorry but yeah i freaked out over that who wouldnt. my little girl has a hard enough fight on her hands i dont wanna add to it. anyways i called the pharmacy , and they told me to call the dr. well i call the dr and guess what drs office is already closed. so i calmly call back and call the emergency line i know i probably shouldnt have but i did i wanted to know before i took it , if it was gonna be ok to take it. of course being the impatient person i am. i called the nurses hotline that my insurance has. while im waiting on someone to be able to take my call the drs office calls back and i talk to the dr. she said they probably weighed the risk and figured it would be a higher risk if i didnt take it , than if i did. im sorry but ummmm how does that mid wife even know if i have a upper respiratory infection if she didnt even bother listening to my lungs???? she could have atleast got the dr in before i left to check me out if she was actually concerned. and that way we could have aired any concerns there might be. but im not going to even bother using that inhaler until i get to a dr i feel knows what the hell he/she is doing . first thing in the morning im calling and making an appt with a new general practioner. im sorry but i have my right to a 2nd 3rd and even a 4th opinion when it comes to my baby and im gonna use it. if it would only affect me i would have no problems with taking it. but its not only gonna affect me its going to affect the little human growing inside me. i mean if this is the way my ob/gyn in is going to conduct their business then guess what, my butt is going to find another one. doesnt matter how far along i am! they even said it themselves, there was almost no point in going to them cause all of my specialist are handling the really big stuff. they will just be the ones delievering the baby. anyways. im just not thrilled with these drs and midwives at the moment so im ranting. and i hope justifiably so.

oh trust me i got to a new pcp the next day and they told me it wasnt an upper respiratory infection it was the begining of an asthma attack. and with the acute symptoms i was havin that the advair wouldnt even work. so needless to say i opened it and never even bothered with taking the thing. oh well glad i have insurance and only had to pay $3.00 for it cause if i had to pay the full $192.00 for it i would be extremely pissed.

It's good that you are comfortable in the care of your specialists. When it comes to D-day, though, I think you deserve to be in the care of someone that makes you just as comfortable. It's a hard day's work, and when you feel like you need to holler to get the attention you need from your doc/midwife/nurse, it's not all in your head--You need care that you can trust with yuor life and your baby's life so that you can relax and let labor happen. I'll be eager to hear how you do. Plus, I hope you feel better soon!
