My mood while writing this blog: good |
With two boys at home all day and homeschooling, I don't have much time to get online but I do check in to the site now and again to see what folks are talking about. My pregnancy has been good so far. I do have an anterior placenta so I don't feel baby moving all that much--the kicks are blocked by the placenta against my abdomen. I have already gained almost 20 pounds but it seems to be all tummy and I don't feel fat or bloated. The other two pregnancies, I gained a total of 33 pounds each time and most of it was at the end. I did start out both times 25 pounds heavier than I am this time. I go soon for my 20 week US and we are hoping to learn the gender--we are shy of girls on both sides of our families, however, another boy would be great (and cheap) because we have everything boy at the house already. We are also interested to see if there are any markers for Down's Syndrome, etc. that are obvious. We have chosen not to do amnio or other tests during the pregnancy since we would not terminate the pregnancy and we find the tests too invasive and/or costly/inconclusive/worry-provoking to warrant going through them. We have a good understanding of our odds (being older parents) and are ready to accept our future however it is. For the most part I am enjoying being pregnant and look forward to my chance to labor once more.

Thursday, 8 Oct It's great to hear all of the reasons you wont do an amnio. My doc was really trying to pressure me to do one and I refused. I would rather not know however I have done all the blood work and am heading to me 2nd screening on Monday. Everything's great so far. I feel the same way. This might be my last pregnancy. My honey is 45 and has kids 20-18 & 16. I have 14-11 year old. This is amazing that we can bring a baby into this loving family. I love being pregnant. I didn't start feeling the baby until literally last week at 18 weeks. Be patient, you will feel. Congrats on baby #2!
