21-6-2011 - frustrated and discouraged

My mood while writing this blog: sad

I really don't know if i have enough fight in me left. I am bf my 2 month old son . I proudly did so with my second for 15 months. I had to almost fight my pediatrician and even my husband and not add any formula. He was always low on weight but healthy and even now is still tiny but very healthy 2 1/2 year old.

With my third now i was doing very good until we got thrush. Whoever had it knows how much pain is it to bf .It took a while but we got rid of it. I was so glad i stuck with the bf cheated just couple times and supplemented when the pain was the worst. Baby is healthy sleeps very good and eat whenever he needs to.

And today i went for his 2 month checkup and it was like sb slap me. He gained only about half the weight he supposed to. And here we go again.: " Maybe u dont have enough milk and u need to suplement, wake up baby in the night and feed him ..........".

I heard all that before. Deep down i know that breastmilk is the best for my son but here is the doubt again that really he is not getting enough
Now we have to go every month again to check if he gaining weight ....

Thank you ladies. I ordered mother's milk tea and will see if that will help. The problem is i'am pretty sure that i make enough milk. Its just when people start doubting you u start feeling in doubt yourself. I started the "fermeted" oats (spelling??!!@) and will continue. I'am sure as a mom i would know if my baby is starving. The funny part is that the nurse was telling me how the baby looks good and healthy until (me stupid) i myself asked about the weight.I will keep going . Just was really sad that day but today i feel much better.

Are taken in enough fluids even if you think you are force more. I drank more then I ate while nursing and over produced fluids are key and continue with vitamins and suplements for you good luck best is best I nursed my boy for 16 months also :)

Talk to the lactation nurse! You can do it.. there are things you can take to up the milk production. Don't stop if you want to bf.... there are also great books and even classees that help too.

You are the mother, do whatever you feel is right to do. He doesnt have to gain all his weight in order to be healthy. If you arent comfortable supplimenting, then dont. if he isnt getting enough milk, he will tell you. Dont worry, if he seems to be thriving to you, he probably is! ( =
