13-11-2009 - My Doctor\'s Appt

My mood while writing this blog: OK

Hello lovely ladies. I had my OB/GYN doctor's appt this morning. Got the yearly stuff out of the way, then discussed a plan of action.

I had blood taken today. They did a beta hCG and a full "infertility" panel, which includes FSH, LH, progesterone, thyroid, etc. As long as the hCG comes back negative (it will), I will take a 10 day course of Provera to bring on AF. During this next cycle, I will get the cycle day specific hormone blood tests. And following that, he will do the HSG to check my tubes.

DH will also get his swimmers tested. The prescription says "semenalysis for husband of infertility patient" - UGH, there's that "i" word again.

I love my doctor. He said my age was a factor in my fertility, but just a factor, not an issue. He told me not to worry, that we would get things rolling quickly to find out what was going on and the best way to get me PG. He said he has women in their 40s PG all the time and even had 2 last week that were PG and were over 50. Yowza. I left there with an optimistic attitude. I wish I had called 6 months ago instead of burying my head in the sand of denial.
