Holy Wow....Good for you for being able to *have* a comeback, I probably would have just stared at her in shock, or walked away. People say the most awful things sometimes, I really hope that she just had a not thinking moment instead of saying that intentionally.

OMG Becky! And no, you don't have to feel bad for making her feel bad! She shouldn't have said something like that. She probably didn't mean to say it like it came out, or maybe it was on her mind in that way, but the lips shouldn't of blurted it out.
But again, don't you feel bad. It wasn't you who opened mouth & inserted your foot. You know?
I've let some of those comments get to me. Like a good friend who said to me, "well, be glad it happened this early instead of 30 something weeks". And of course, that would have made it so much harder for me....! People!

hmm well i guess your friend didnt mean to be rude, i guess she said it, without thinking how its gonna affect you... Sometimes we all tend to say things that we dont really mean.. and i guess when u sarcastically answered her back, she got the point that she had ended up saying something wrong.. i know it hurts when people say such things to us, and it was really horrible to say something like this... but i guess mistakes happen with everyone... anyways sweety i hope you are fine and dont think much about this incident.. Somethings are best forgotten...

Honey I am soooo sorry that happened. But serious, the girl doesn't know you, and she didn't know your baby passed. Maybe she was making conversation.. I mean I don't see what she said to be so mean. If she knew what happened and such the hell yes that's mean.. But she didn't know any better my love.

I think tonight I heard what has to be officially the most insensitive and stupid comment ever. I was out with friends and was talking with one of them about football season coming up (I am a season ticket holder and huge football fan). She said "Aren't you glad you aren't going to be pregnant during football season?" I am not kidding, she really said that. Everyone around us was just staring at her with their jaws dropped. Never one to miss the opportunity for sarcasm, I said, "Yes, I'm really glad that my baby died so that I can have a beer or 2 and don't have to carry around so much extra weight during the football games this year." And then I said "That has got to be the most stupid comment I have ever heard." She immediately backtracked and felt bad, but really, what the hell was she thinking?
The person who said this is close to me and was very well aware of my M/C. I'm not upset by it, but none of us could believe she said it. I don't want to upset anyone or dredge up bad memories by sharing the story, I just thought y'all would understand. I did feel badly for being so bitterly sarcastic and making her feel bad, I don't think she meant any harm, but still, I just thought it was a bizarre thing to say.
