| 11-5-2009 - Mother\'s Day | My mood while writing this blog:OK |
I knew Mother's Day was going to be difficult for me. It was the day we told our families last year that we were PG.
The very first insult was that AF showed up. Oh you witch, what timing!
I did OK, I almost broke down once when everyone was outside and exchanging gifts and I was doing the dishes and watching through the window. My sister made the most beautiful scrapbook for my mom of my neices and nephew and I looked through it to be polite, but every page was like a dagger through my heart.
Leading up to the day, I was really hoping that no one would bring up the M/C, because I didn't want pity or people feeling sorry for me. But then as the day went by, it was almost like it hurt that no one remembered that for a short time, I was a mom too.
I gave my mom her card and gift after all of the hoopla was over when no one was paying attention. She said she'd been thinking about the baby and knew that the day must have been difficult for me. She said she had a slight hope that she would get a similar surprise in her card to last year (the U/S pic), but I told her unfortunately not. Then I even told her that AF showed up, how's that for ironic timing. And we had a good laugh about it.
I guess that's why moms are so awesome. Because they know just the right thing to say and when to say it.
Belated Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and moms-to-be out there.
