My mood while writing this blog: Happy and Excited |
Well I had an appointment with the dietitian in the hospital today as I put on over 5 stone when I was pregnant with my first and did not want to make the same mistakes again with this pregnancy. She was so lovely and really helped me. When I get a slump I would eat a slice of bread and butter as I did not know what else I could eat with carbs lowish in fat that would keep me going. She gave me loads of tips and helpful information on foods. I started to feel really good that I could do this and watch what I was eating. Oats seem to be the trick to keep us preggie ladys full and healthy!!! Niarns Oat Cakes and biscuits, hummus, almonds and apricots about 6 almonds and 2 apricots as a healthy snack ( thought I had to stay away from nuts altogther), Melba toast and laughing cow tops with cherry tomatoes ( which I just had and was soooooooooooo yummy), peas, lentils, beans, chickpeas - no ideas yet for chickpeas - lean red meat 2 out of 7 days, edam cheese which has all the calcium but is much healthier than cheddar, eggs which I gave up altogether on my first as I was told you were not suppose to eat them. You can have them if they are fully cooked ie omlette and scrambled eggs or even a boiled egg that is fully boiled so will be having an egg for my breaky this weekend, not to eat peanuts as tadpole could take a reaction, no pate or liver like that would ever happen ha ha and avoid the shark, marlin and swordfish altogether because of the mercury like that is going to happen either as I would not eat any of them even if I was not preggie and last but not least she said to limit my caffiene. I told her that I had given up coffee and she said that there is caffine in fizzy drinks, choc bars, sports drinks and sometimes herbal teas, so tea and maybe one or two diet colas for me!!!! FEELING SO HUNGRY AFTER TYPING ALL THEM FOODS GOING TO HAVE ME A HEALTHY SNACK NOW HA HA...................................
