21-12-2008 - Baby ?'s room

I'm 99% done with my baby girl's room. All I need is a name!!!

The inspiration for the room came from a mix of Restoration Hardware and Uppercase Living. I just couldn't justify spending hundreds of dollars on crib bedding but I absolutely loved the colors and simplistic design of RH. Luckily I am able to sew so I searhced the itnernet and the fabric stores for ages trying to find the right colors. With white trim, I couldn't have cream in the fabric. I also wanted a deep chocolate brown, not a washed out brown.

My friend sells Uppercase Living expressions and they had this pretty flower motif with a name across the flower stems (see the board above her bed). I loved this and decided to use it as the inspiration for a 'mural'. So I copied the flower design and painted them directly on the wall. That was just not enough so I decided to cut plywood flowers and stems out too.

It still needed more so I did the dragonfly, butterfly and lady bugs as well. The other words, "dream, believe, hope, love" are all UCL expressions as well. The bugs have silver wire bent into antaenna (can't see in pics).

I had so much fun doing this room. I got to surprise my MIL last night with it. She's only ever raised boys and she's freaking out about a girl. She loves it.
