05-8-2009 - Dr's Appt & Met Doula

My mood while writing this blog: exhausted

I finally had my Dr's appt at the hospital yesterday to establish whether or not i could use the Midwife Birthing Centre, since i had bowel surgery over three years ago they just wanted to be sure i was not high risk, and its wonderful news ive been given the all clear! Im absolutely overjoyed with this because above everything i wanted to attempt a natural birth in the surroundings of a birth unit that has the tub for water births and only using my allocated midwife.

I also got to hear my girls heartbeat for the first time which was amazing, they say she is a good size and everthing seems to be going perfectly :)

Today I had my first appointment with my doula, this also went great, she will meet with me two more times to mentally prepare me for the birth and will assist throughout the birth and also have a couple of visits following the birth. Im pretty happy that im having a doula, she'll be there to support me and hubby emotionally and give back rubs and help me keep on my birth plan.

I guess now i just sit back and relax and enjoy the next 5 or 6 weeks before my next midwife appt..
