05-1-2010 - Ruby and Me - 25 days in

Hi Mums :)

Well Ruby is now 3 weeks and 5 days old.. i cant believe its almost been 1 month... thats how long its taken me to have enough time to sit at the pc and write a quick update!!
I am so busy, more than i ever thought i would be.. Ruby is doing fantastic - today the midwife came and weighed her, she has put on 1.4lb since birth :) apparently shes averaging a gain of about 50grams a day!!!! I suspected as much as she is certainly a big feeder!!
My first two weeks were a bit up and down, some easy days some hard days, some i didnt get dressed and i cried here and there.. lol but apparently im normal!! The last week has been fun, im up and about more, my c-section wound has healed alot more and im able to do thing and we even went shopping!!
Ruby is even having some playtime in the day which is really nice, she seems to smile a fair bit, some say its wind, but im sure she is enjoying our singing and playing :)
Breastfeeding is still slightly challenging, i have partially inverted nipples, so Ruby has to work very hard to get the nipple out to start which can be hard if my boobs are a bit engorged and lumpy.. but the midwife says we are doing very well considering what we have to work with (my boobs i mean) My nipples are still a bit cracked which is painful for the first 30 secs of the feed but then it seems to be ok..
I started at a mums group this week, Rubes is the youngest of 12 bubs there, its a 6 week thing and then we can continue along after that off on our own.. im enjoying it so far, lots of mums have some good tips, and its great to get out the house :)

Sounds about right! It sounds like you are doing a great job! I think it is awesome that you are persevering through breastfeeding despite the challenges. You are a good mommy! I'm glad you found a mom's group too. That helps your spirits a lot. Glad to hear you are doing well!
