My mood while writing this blog: confused |
Ok so as you know i have two kids ages 8 & almost 10. Things have changed big time since i've had them. The only thing i saved from my last baby was the crib. I saved it because I paid a lot for it and thought it was so beautiful i didn't want to just get rid of it like i did with everything else. I only saved the frame of course. So recently i've heard a lot of people talk about the drop side cribs and how they are now banned? My crib is a drop side sley crib (i cant spell lol). I still would love to use it but am sort of worried now. Can anyone explain what the dangers are to babies with the drop sides? It only drops on one side. my crib is in perfect like new condition and I want to use it. Also, i was told the new none drop sides are expensive? does anyone know anything about prices ect? thanks

Wednesday, 22 Dec I wouldn't worry too much as Aubmari said it is the ones with plastic hardware and those that have been put together wrongly. Make sure the new mattress fits snuggly (for SIDS reasons) no gaps. And keep an eye on the side feature of the cot to ensure the hardware does not split or break, if it does or is purchase a new slide mechanism (you can just purchase the slide mechanism) I do it for work all the time being in child care. And don't use sticky tape to hold the cot together (yes parents were) and they wonder why they need to recall the cots, lol! Bgscoobyluver -

Tuesday, 21 Dec My daughter is 15 months old and she sleeps in a drop side crib. It drops on the one side too. I thought about it and did research too, you need to make sure there isn't space in between the mattress and the side that drops but if it is sturdy then it is safe. I have had no problem with my daughter in ours and she rolls around a lot and has since birth. I would say trust your judgement but it sounds okay to me too. aubmari -
Tuesday, 21 Dec I found an article on line that said that it isn't all drop side cribs but the ones that have plastic hardware or because it wasn't properly put together by the parents. I really dont think there is much to worry about if it looks sturdy and you are familiar with how it is assembled. :) Just my opinion though. I dont think I would have a problem using it.
