20-5-2009 - Packing for the hospital

My mood while writing this blog:
anxious

So I am working on packing my bags for the hospital. I am having a c-section and for some reason every website I go to has nothing for c-sections! Here is what I have listed just from thoughts....

For me:

Underware, pad/pantyliners (I hate the hospital ones), deo, toothbrush/paste, ponytail holders, hairbrush, hairdryer/straightening iron, 2-3 pair of pjs or nightgowns, lounge pants and t-shirts, outfit to wear home, razor and shaving cream, slippers, flip fops, socks, nursing bras, sleep bras, breast pads, lanolin, shampoo, body wash and poofy, pillow

For the hubby

shirts, shorts/pants, comfy shoes, underware, coks, pj/lounge pants, deo, pillow, toothbrush/paste, his loofy

For the baby

Carseat with headrest, gown sleepers, going home outfit/socks/shoes, socks, mittens, brush, blankets, baby wipes (I dont like the hospitals "wipes")

Other items

Camera, video camera, rechargable batteries/charger, normal batteries, cell phone for me and hubby with chargeres, laptop plus charger, snacks/drinks, money, pictures of Jackson (my 1st son), the baby book, my tubal papers, registration papers, insurance card, people to call

Even though I have this list I feel like I am forgetting something important and I dunno what! Any tips or advice would be great!

i dont think you are over packing...i would pack everything you. i was in the hospital for a week, and i have a very few things...the clothes on my back!

Hello Girls. I am only taking a few things. I think you might just be over packing ? my personal feeling. Sorry.
3 pj's, 1 gown, slippers, 10 panties and toiletries, (cream, pads, tooth brush & paste and hair brush, small shampoo and conditioner) I am dying my eyebrows and lashes so I look ok with-out make up. (So can leave that at home) The hair dryer and stuff will all stay at home. My hair dresser will be seeing me 2 days before I go in to trim. You have long hair – why not just put it up instead of packing your iron and dryer in? I am Only taking 2 sets of tracksuits, for during the day. Hubby can bring the car seat the day he comes to fetch me. I will pack in snacks for Dad for the day we book in, but the hospital does have a café if he is really hungry. He may not stay overnight so I don’t have to pack his bag, anyway if he could stay he can pack his own bag.
Baby bag will have all the trims to it. Well I have never given birth so maybe I will be under packing? We go on a ward tour this Sunday and will see what its like, and what they suggest we bring with. Good luck – when are you scheduled to go in?
