06-5-2009 - 38 week update

My mood while writing this blog: irritated!

I should have had my 38 week check up today, but the clinic over booked and re-scheduled me for NEXT Tuesday! Im 38 weeks, and your letting me go for 2 whole weeks without a check up! I am so irritated. Last week when she checked me I was 2cm and 50%.... that was before I had some painful contractions over the weekend and all week I have been feeling A LOT of pressure really low with some tight cramping. Somtimes it takes me down, literally have to sit or hunch over in pain! Did I mention that this weekend is Track Districts and my sister who also doubles at my birthing partner is going to be gone out of town all weekend! I dont know, maybe I am just thinking too much, but I just feel strange today and my tummy feels really tight and almost numb or tingly to the touch. We will see how the night goes, but Im sure I will be headed to L&D tomorrow after work to see if they will just check me out. Dont get me wrong ladies, I would love for her to come out now, but I just dont want it to happen when my sis is gone... and especially not having a back up plan at this moment. Maybe I will get lucky and she will come tonight!

UPDATE:

Since I havent been feeling normal lately, my appointment got re-scheduled for next tuesday, and Im going to be home alone this weekend... I decided to head into L&D to get checked out last night. I got there at about 6:45pm and they hooked me up to the monitors. I was there for about an hour when the nurse came in to check me out and saw that I had been having regular contractions about every 7-8 mins. The nurse was actually surprised at how strong they appeared to be! (I knew things were changing and just because in "most cases" with your first you are late or slow to progress, I was really irritated when they didnt think it was a big deal for me to go 2whole weeks without a check up.) Anyway, she went ahead and checked my dialation which was still at 2cm and said that I was now 70% effaced. Being that the contractions wern't getting stronger each time, she said that this is just my body preparing for whats to come, and that she didnt think labor would be happening this weekend. Im sad, but also relieved to hear that. I really didnt want to be home alone when all this starts to happen. I do want lil Emma to come out, but I can wait until next week when my sis is back. Anyway, I just thought I would give you all a lil update on what I found out. Sorry its so long.... HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND AND A HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! :D
