12-5-2008 - Living with a 7 month old!!

Well, I know it has been a really long time since I have actually wrote anything on here. I see that there are a lot of mommy's that I talked to before, that haven't been on here for several months. That is completely understandable seeing as how our babies have been keeping us all busy, Im sure.

As for my little man, Carter...He is now a little over 7 months old. It is so hard to believe that in 5 months, we will be celebrating his first birthday. I really don't want to think about it, honestly!! I had always been told that it goes by really fast but I had NO idea that it was going to be this fast. It seems like yesterday when we brought him home from the hospital and he would just lay in my arms and barely move haha and NOW he is the most active baby I have ever seen. The Dr told us to start childproofing the house because he was a really active baby for his age. He never wants to sit still and always wants to be on the move. His most favorite thing to do is jump. So we invested in a jumparoo because our arms were getting a little sore from holding him while he jumped all of the time. He will literally jump in his jumparoo until he is asleep. The other night we heard one of the toys spinning and I looked over; he had laid down his head on the jumparoo and was going to sleep but that wasn't keeping him from playing!!!

It is so amazing to watch him accomplish different milestones each month. I was amazed at the first time he rolled from his belly to his back and was sooo excited the first time he accomplished rolling from his back to his belly. And of course now, he's unstoppable. If he sees something that he wants on the other side of the room, he will roll to get to that. He is working so hard on crawling right now so thats our next step up the ladder. He will get on his hands and knees and rock back and forwth. They say thats the last step before they begin to crawl, we're just waiting!! I just think its so cute because I will hear him wake up in the morning and go check on him & he will be in his crib with his butt stuck up in the air, rocking on his hands and knees. haha I love my baby boy! Obvious?!

One thing that we've been waiting sooo patiently on is him sitting up alone. But for some reason he hasn't accomplished that just yet. I believe that he is able to do it but just doesn't want to. He is fascinated with lights and ceiling fans so anytime we try to sit him up on his own, he throws his head back and slams on the floor real hard just so he can see the ceiling fan or light. Im not sure if this is normal for a 7 month old not to be sitting up yet but oh well, what can I do!?

And we still have no teeth!!! He has actually been drooling and fussy since 4/5 months and I thought that he would have had a tooth by 6 months. But I asked his Dr and they said that some babies have really tough gums so therefore, teething becomes a little more difficult for them. A couple of my nieces didn't get their first teeth until they were 9 months. So we'll just have to wait and see. I can't say that I really want to wait until he's 9 months to see his first pearly white but if I have to, I have to!! Hopefully we wont have to wait that long with the way he's been acting lately. He started sleeping pretty well through the night at 4 1/2-5 months and has done so until we went to visit family in the begining of May(begining of his 7th month.) So my first thought was that he wasn't sleeping well just because we weren't home. But even after we got home, he started waking up at 3,4,5 in the morning when he'd sleep until 8 at times. Let me tell ya...after you're used to at least getting to sleep until 7:30-8am, its hard when they pull things out like this on you!! One thing that I can say though is that when I hear my baby boy crying in the mornings saying "mama", it lights up my world. So whether its 3 am or 8 am, he can always put a smile on my face!

Well, I guess I had better put this to an end. I could go on forever about Carter. He is my world, my everything! The first time I saw him, I was instantly in love! I will forever love when he grabs my face and pulls me to him so he can give me kisses, when he screams in the middle of the night for his mama or when he looks at his daddy when he walks through the door after being at work all day and quietly says "daaaaadddy" and then reaches for him. That boy has changed my husband and I forever and when someone asks me "Do you believe in love at first sight?" I can say yes, with my son!

I hope that all of you other mommy's out there are doing great. I miss sharing all of our preggo moments together and reading about different things our little ones did in the bellys. If anyone reads this that I used to talk to, MSG ME!!! and if I didnt used to talk to you...still MSG ME! I love talking with mommy's to be, new mommy's and mommy's like me! And I promise, Im not a freak that has some weird sick obsession over moms or preggos...haha(GROSS)!!

I may feel the need to update more later...maybe when he's ONE!!! YIKES!!
