| 22-8-2009 - long time no chat! | My mood while writing this blog:tired but happy |
Hi lovely ladies! sorry it's been so long since i've chatted with anyone! it's been a hectic week. Connor had been running a medium fever for several days last week and we took him to the clinic....the dr said he's got an infections, here's some amoxycillan,it should work.....nothing changed, so i took him back to the clinic again 3 days later, and a second dr said it's a virus so no wonder the antibiotics aren't working. just wait it out, and it shouldn't pose a problem for your pregnancy....so meanwhile connor has now had a fever of 101-103 for a week and no can do anything? i was pissed and starting to get a little scared...he also had a ferocious cough but they kept listening and saying his lungs were clear. so then he's off to his dad's for the week which upsets me even more...not that his dad can't take care of him, but i'm his mom and i always think i know best (lol). anyways his dad and step mom were really good about emailing me or calling with updates and by wednesday night when his fever spiked again i had had it.....i went and got him and bruce and i took him to the ER. they were fantastic...it was 3 hours from the time we got there until we left and if anyone has ever spent time in VGH here, you'd know that's a bloody miracle...not that they're slow, just busy! there are two main hospitals here in town, with 400K plus residents and only one trauma unit, at vgh.....thankfully we didn't see anything really icky as we were in the same emergency room as all others....i felt immediate relief once we got there.....we were seen in about 40 mintues by a dr who i swear was a good ten years younger than me....she ordered a nasal swab and then said why dont' we do a chest xray, even though she hadn't heard anything either. the nasal swab, i thought, would be a Q tip size swabbing around his nostrils.....no no, it was about 5 inches long and was stuck in, all the way up both nasal cavities! i had no idea, and had told connor, dont' worry it won't hurt....apparently i was really quite wrong!! poor little man, handled it like a trooper! then the did the chest x ray and when it came back, low and behold, he has pneumonia! shocking!! anyways she ordered him some super strong antibiotics, and his fever was gone within less than 12 hours....he still is coughing but i assume that'll go away. we've delayed our camping trip by one day...bruce has gone up already to move the trailer to it's spot and we'll head up tomorrow.........all of this hospital adventure was on the same day that the vet told us we were losing our oldest cat, which turned out to be a load of crap b/c they tried a new med and he is on the mend, although we're told to only expect another year max....
dr visit went well yesterday for me and junior......i am measuring 34 centimeters at 31 weeks so dr has said that he is a big baby! yikes! connor was 8lb 5.5 oz and my dr is like "you delivered him naturally, you should have no problem with a 10 pounder"......PARDON???? i think she's just trying to scare me! i hope!
anyways.....drum role.......we have settled on a name of the chunky monkey...and no, that's not it!! His name is Caelum Brian Allan Woodcock. Caelum (pron Cay-lum) means heavenly in celtic and Brian and Allan are his grandfathers names.
anyways gotta run, will check in via blackberry whilst camping but not always easy to respond, so forgive me if it takes a bit to get a response! my baby is next sunday after we get back from camping, i'm sooo excited for that!
hugs to all!
