03-10-2009 - dilation!

My mood while writing this blog: excited

so had regulary weekly dr appt scheduled for yesterday at 1pm. yesterday morning i noticed that my mucus plug was coming out - yipee! i'm pretty sure when i lost it with Connor that it was a week prior to his birth, so i wasn't overly excited, but just happy knowing that the process was beginning and i wasn't going to be pregnant forever. The week previous the dr had checked and said that she couldn't feel if i was dilated but the cervix was softening. So off we go to the appt; meanwhile right as we were leaving my back decided to go into spasm. i have a pretty tempermental back anyways, but bruce thought maybe it was labour pains. i said no, because it was in one spot only and did not stop...by did not stop i mean it's still spasming now and it's been more than 24 hours. anyhoo, we get to the dr's and i ask to be checked just b/c of the mucus plug and also had been feeling quite a bit of pressure over the last week. So she did and said oh my you're at 4 cm almost 5....i'm like "holy sh*t", can't believe it...to get to that with connor was somewhat painful and i haven't had any pain with the exception of the back spasm. so she figures it'll be sometime this weekend (from her lips to god's ears i told her!!). i've had some stronger braxton hicks (no pain, just tightening) but nothing that's in a pattern. we've been told that if the water breaks or i start getting any measurable contractions, to straight away to hospital as dr thinks it'll be quick. i'm curious to know if i'm any further at this point but am not going to hospital until we need to....
