| 17-10-2009 - first week | My mood while writing this blog:happy! |
Caelum's first week has been great. he got over his choking on the mucus by about monday (he was born fri oct 9), we are sure glad that's done with. i must have had heart failure 20 times or so! unfortunately breastfeeding has not been going well. he will latch on the left side no problem but will only stay on for a few minutes, maybe 5-10 max if he's really wanting it. he seems to still want to though which is good. i am of course bottle feeding for the most part but still offering the breast when he seems interested. my friend is picking up one of those tube thingys that you put in the bottle and then attach to your breast to see if he can get more interested and to keep up my milk supply which is already dwindling alot. his first dr appt was yesterday and he's now surpassed his birth weight by 1 oz! yay! he's small but chubby! Connor has been great with him, although he went to his dad's on monday for the week so only had a few days with him, but he'll be home this monday.
Bruce and I had "argued" about the length of time i had pushed...i had sworn it was 5-10 minutes and i was leaning more to the 5 minutes....bruce thought it was closer to 15....the dr's file states i pushed for 4 minutes! with connor i pushed for 2.5 hours and i remember it feeling like forever before he crowned....caelum was crowning at the first push! crazy! the L&D staff listed my labour as officially 1 hour and 20 minutes (they count from when your contractions become unbearable, and are doing something). next time maybe i'd better live at the hospital. with connor active labour (hurting, unbearable) was 1 hour plus 2.5 in pushing.crazy!
anyways other than sleep deprivation we are fine. Fall is certainly here, we've had amazing warm weather from may until beginning of oct (with record highs in the summer) but the last few days have cooled right off and today was so rainy, the local wal mart sprung a leak! our friend who is the store manager had to get up on the roof and had forgotten his jacket at home! poor guy!
anyways off to sleep (i hope)! little man is still in a pattern of sleeping away the day and being up at night!
hope everyone is well!
