| 10-11-2008 - babies' first appointment | My mood while writing this blog:tired |
the babies had their first outing today. We went to see the pediatrician. I was totally worried that I would be freaking out about being out in the world with them (crazy drivers, it's flu season, someone could hijack a tank and run us down...you know, normal stuff) but i did okay..better than when we came home from the hospital (I cried the whole way because Mina was crying and I couldn't reach her..I almost made Erik pull over on the freeway). but in any case, we made it there alright.
when we get to the doctor's office i notice that to get to the 'well' patient area you have to walk through the 'sick' patient area. I'm sure I noticed this before, but now my babies are having to be carried through the 'sick' area and I'm irritated by this. Really, whose idea was this? The sick patient area should be isolated, not the area between the desk and the well patient area! I really wanted to walk ahead of Erik and spray lysol everywhere...LOL, I'm ridiculous, but it's okay. :)
When we get into the exam room the MA's tell us to strip the babies down naked. They were kind of abrupt with us, so I didn't feel bad when my daughter peed on one of them. Actually, I felt pretty good when she did that. The babies were weighed and meaasured and then as we were getting them dressed they informed us that they needed to do another PKU on them today.
This made me feel not good. When the babies had their PKU in the hospital my son cried so hard and so much that I (unable to get out of bed and comfort him) burst into hysterical tears and wanted to kick someone's a** for making my baby cry like that!!!
In any case, we talked with the doctor, he encouraged us to call if we had any questions...he said a lot of our questions will most likely start with "is it normal..." and that we should feel free to ask anything, anytime. He checked out the babies and said they were looking good (YAY!) and that everything that we were concerned about is normal (YAY!) and then he was off into the night.
The MA came back and did the babies' PKU...i only cried a little this time, My daughter was so brave, she cried after the initial poke but calmed down pretty easily, but my poor baby boy! He cried like he was being tortured and I felt like my heart was being ripped out of my chest...hopefully that feeling goes away a little...I don't know if I can survive all of the shots that babies have to get!!
