| 23-2-2009 - Nasty, repulsive cold sore on my lip!! |
My mood while writing this blog: frustrated |
So I noticed the first signs of a cold sore on my top lip on Saturday and Sunday morning had a big, nasty blister to go with a swollen, heavy upper lip. D-i-s-g-u-s-t-i-n-g!! I have only ever had 3 or 4 and its been almost 2 years since I've had one. I only ever got them when I was stressed, not sleeping enough or run down and feel well rested and Im certainly not stressed out. WHY?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the biggest one Ive ever had (beside my very first one) and I cant possible leave the house looking like this. I want to gag when I look at it. I went to the walk-in clinic and the Doc told me to let it run its' course because Im pregnant. I always took Valtrex orally in the past and it works like a hot damn! I also phoned a few pharmacists and they both said there is a less harsh medication I can take orally but Im convinced GP's lack knowledge in so many ways (Im an Psych-RN so I can say that from much experience working with them) and they just say "No" because they dont have the drug knowledge and info with relation to pregnancy and are paranoid they could get sued.
So here I am letting this nasty eruption "run it's coarse" and its only day 3 with no signs of the swelling or blister going down. I have tried icing it too and it hasnt helped at all.
DO ANY OF YOU HAVE SOME NATURAL REMEDIES TO SPEED UP THE HEALING PROCESS? My girlfriend said she rubbed apple cider vinegar on hers when she was pregnant and it helped speed up the healing process but I dont have any of that in the house. Im going crazy here and I dont want to take a hot shower because Im afraid the scabs will rub off from the warm water and I think its best not to mess with scabs.
ANY ADVICE IS APPRECIATED! THANKS LADIES! I sure hope this doesnt happen again in the last 6 months of my pregnancy. All I do is sleep these days, I just cant believe I got one to begin with.

Monday, 16 Mar i know im a little late...but my mom gets them. She uses hydrocortisone cream. Try that, she says it takes the time down on them. let me know if it works in the future. babyMOIV -
Tuesday, 24 Feb yeah I would try citrus just a rub a lemon on it! It'll prob hurt like an SOB but it has a good chance of working since it has so much acid in it Good luck! rooey -
Tuesday, 24 Feb Sweetie I get these from most lip glosses! You are not alone.
Ok, Lemon Balm is very good, completely natural, also if you have Virgin Vie over there, they do this wonderful little thing called Guardian Angel, is all natural ingredents too, and clears them up in two days!
Good Luck xxx mrs.leyva -
Monday, 23 Feb Sorry I can't provide any helt. My youngest just had a cold sore. It took a week to run its course. I was soo hard keeping my boys from not drinking from each other's cups! But it was gone soon enough.
