| 22-5-2009 - What do you think??? | My mood while writing this blog:FULL OF JOY |
Hey there! My aunt was in town this weekend and she was telling me about her son (my cousin) who taught his baby sign language before she could talk so she was able to communicate. I thought that was pretty cool. She said that Lexie (that's her name) was never dependant on the sign language and when she learned to talk she stopped signing. But it was a way for her to say what she wanted. Of course you had to know what the signs were. She said she could sign: hungry, thirsty, sorry, please, thank you, cheese, cracker, sleepy....there were some more too but you get the idea. So, I'm thinking about teaching Raegan this. Of coarse, it's a little too early for it now but I'll have to research and see what I come up with. (she's 11 weeks) My aunt says there's videos you can buy to teach. I guess it all depends on how time consuming it is because I am a working mom. What do y'all think??? Is this cool or not worth it? The only thing I was thinking that it MIGHT delay her speech but my aunt sayd that Lexie was right on time and when you want them to talk, rather than sign back to her you would just talk instead of talk and sign to her and then she would get it. When they start talking they don't do the hand movements because you aren't doing them back I guess......I'll let y'all know what i decide to do. would any of you do this??? I never even thought about it. But now that I know, I think I'll give it a try.
