08-10-2008 - 35 Weeks

My mood while writing this blog: angry

I had my appointment with my Doctor today and can I say that he is rude!

He never answers my questions, takes a hour after my appointment just to see him and then he trys to shove me in and out. Well today I was lucky to have Kenny go with me because of all the rain (he couldn't work). I always feel extra comfortable with him there. I knew that they were giving me my GBS test (the vaginal swab) but I still don't mind that Kenny is there.

Anyways fast forward to the Dr. office. I told the nurses I lost my mucus plug and she wrote on my chart. When the doctor did come in, eventually, he had a medical student following him. This guy was in his late 30's big bushy beard and utterly creepy. As soon as I saw him coming in the room I tried to cover up as best as I could (I was naked from the waste down for the GBS test). All that kept running through my head was "is this guy going to stay in the room with me while I am getting a vaginal exam??!!

Well the Dr. walks in and says "I see that you have lost your mucus plug and really it's no big deal." He blew it off without letting me ask any questions and proceeded to pull up my shirt and measure my belly while talking to his medical student about the orchestra music playing overhead. He didn't use jelly to find the heartbeat which made him press really hard. Without any luck he grabbed the lube and poured it on my stomach..without telling me my baby's heartbeat and walked out of the room..still discussing the band who played this song.

I looked up at Kenny just flabbergasted! I told him I was uncomfortable with that guy being in the room and hoped he didn't come in for my vaginal exam.... I have always been really shy and prefered not to have some creepy dude starring at my va-jay jay lol!

After a couple of minutes the Dr. comes back in, with the nurse, and trailing behind was the bushy bearded guy. The doctor immediatley sat down at the edge of the bed and told me to put my feet in the stir-ups. The nurse took a position beside him and the medical student went and stood on the other side of Kenny, down at the end of the bed, where he had a front row view of.. my lower region. My face turned bright red and that is when Kenny said very polietly "is it necessary to have this many people in here?"

The Dr. said "the nurse has to be in here and if you are talking about him next time you should tell me!"

Then he asked him to step out and turned to me and said "I was going to ask you if it was necessary that you were in here!!"

I could not believe he just said that!!! All because I didn't want the medical student starring at my vagina!

He did the test in one sec (it is just a swab of your fluids) and walked out.. Kenny and I was just so humiliated. I put my clothes back on and walked out in the hall to schedule my next appointment.

He didn't give us a chance to say something just to him nor did he ask us personally if we cared if that guy tagged along.

Well, if you know Kenny he doesn't let anything go or takes crap from anyone. He walks back to the back and asked to speak to our Dr.

When he comes out Kenny asks him what he meant about his snotty comment, "that it wasn't necessary for him to be there." He was stunned that Kenny even stood up for himself and tried to be nice. He said, that most girls feel comfortable having those exams alone."

So today's 35 weekley visit was horrible, if I ever decided to have another baby I would def. choose somoneone who actually has interest in me and my baby.
