08-11-2009 - ginasys has white spotn in her mouth i need advice please help

My mood while writing this blog:
disappointed in myself

a couple of days ago i saw what looked liked tresh in my daughters mouth but paid no attention because i thought to myself there is no way she could have because i clean her mouth after every feeding and burp now today I noticed that she didnt want her bottle and when I removed the bottle from her mouth there it was on her lip and inside her mouth that fast like it happened over night. I feel horriable how could I let her get this and what do i now how do i make it go away i know you ladies might be thinking dont you have other kids and your right but none of them ever had tresh, and im getting all kinds of home remedies for ex. use a fresh pee diaper and rub it on the effected areas. Please help me

Treatment usually consists of an antifungal medicine such as Nystatin suspension. This can be applied, gently, directly to the plaques with a cotton-tipped applicator, or given orally 1-2ml four times daily. Sidney Hurwitz, M.D., in Clinical Pediatric Dermatology, suggests using a cotton-tipped applicator dipped into a mixture of one-fourth teaspoon of baking soda and one or two drops of mild liquid detergent (without ammonia or bleach) mixed in a glass of warm water.

My son who birthday happens to be same as your daughter's had it a month ago. The dr said it comes from bottle and pacisfers (sp) with the continuous wetness in mouth. He was give antibiotic to use for several days. I felt same way at first also.

Are you breastfeeding her?? If so she may be getting it from you, you'd have to contact a lactation consultant. They would be able to tell you what you have to do to get it to clear up. Her pediatrician could tell you if it's thrush and prescribe her oral medication. I got thrush and had to go through this ridiculos long process just to pump, mine was so bad, that I was cracked and bleeding and could only pump. Hope everything works out :)
