02-4-2008 - Lily's 9 month checkup

Lily had her 9 month check up on the 20th and I'm sorry it's taken so long to update. She did have to get one shot because the doctor wasn't able to give it to her at her last checkup. Boo! She weighed in at 19lbs 9oz, measured 29 1/4 inches, and I actually can't remember her head circumference. She did have a slight cold and was cranky at the appt, and come to find out, she had an ear infection! Wow, no wonder she’s so cranky. Dr Kennedy prescribed her some amoxicillin for 10 days. Well, here it is April 1 and she’s actually even more cranky than before! Since I work for a doctor I asked him to take a look at Lily’s ears. NOW, she has TWO ear infections! Apparently, the amoxicillin doesn’t work. What a waste of time and money for that medicine. So Lily has another doctor’s appointment today, so Dr Kennedy can check her out. I swear!, he better not give her more amoxicillin! There has to be something else to help with this mess. I’m about to lose my mind, because she’s been waking up in the middle of the night crying and not wanting to go back to sleep because she’s hurting so much. Cranky baby=Cranky mommy.

Other than all of that, Lily is doing excellent!! The doctor was amazed at where she is at with her “speech”. Technically (and obviously), she isn’t really saying anything yet, but she definitely makes the sounds for words and associates them to things. She will poke your eye and make the “eeee” sound. Same goes with the mouth and nose. She makes the “ba” sound for a wide array of things, like ball, bottle, bye. Sometimes she’ll spit out bye bye. I didn’t think she was that far ahead in her speech, but apparently, well according to him, she is! Lily’s a little terror now, she’s crawling everywhere, getting into everything, and disappearing when she’s planning on causing trouble. She’s eating a ton of table food and has even tried Salmon ***she loved it!**** and black olives ***loved them more!***. She must get her taste buds from daddy! I’m glad that she likes a wide range of food. Lily laughs a ton, and even “dances”. Which cracks everyone up! She wiggles her whole body and then she laughs. She’s just so much fun and I can’t imagine anything better than spending the day with her!

aww, sorry she sick, that's no fun! You are so right, cranky baby cranky mommy...no doubt! Wow, she's getting big. So which one of you is tall...or where do you thing she gets it? Regan was just about 19lb...and 29 1/2" tall...I guess she gets it from my side...Phil is not tall....at all...but I'm above average for a woman and I have tall people. I think she'll be my height in the end.
