02-7-2009 - first doctors appointment

My mood while writing this blog:

so, my appointment was originally at 2pm today, but she called the other day and said that she had to cancel our appointment... i got mad and told her no because i already took work off (i really didnt but i had it planned for this day and my whole family was waiting for it too!) so she said okay, well she could switch it to 10am. she said thats all she had open... which kind of upset me because now that meant john couldnt go... (he works till 6am) but i said okay and took it anyways because we didnt want to wait any longer.
well i get there and all we did was blood work and those simple questions...and alot of talking. i asked her if there was anyway i could possibly hear the heartbeat or maybe an ultrasound just to make sure that the baby is okay...since i miscarried last summer im so scared about it happening again. so she said she could try but there wouldnt be any promises because in most cases its too early to get the heartbeat... so we tried and i got all excited cuz i heard a heartbeat!!! turns out it was only mine though... she said she couldnt find the babys because its still under my pelvic bone... and its almost impossible to get a heartbeat through a bone lol.
so she did this thing where she stuck her finger in my vagina and felt my stomach... very uncomfortable... kinda hurt a little bit too... and she said it feels like im less than 8 weeks..which is what we calculated me to be around. so we scheduled an appointment for an ultrasound for dating on july 14th... 2 weeks!!! so im excited until then :)
im a little more nervous now though...because last summer with my miscarrige we had an emergency ultrasound which told us it was smaller than normal too and that it had died... so to hear the doctor tell me that i feel less than 8 weeks (when thats what im supposed to be at) is pretty scary to be hearing again... but until the ultrasound, im trying to keep positive and not think negative... i dont want to stress too much and end up miscarrying again... ugh!!!
keep your fingers crossed for me pleasee!!!

Don't stress pay attention to ur body. Close attention to ur symptoms.. Drink plenty of water and eat healthy! And goooodluck. I know the first trimester after M/C is so soo nerve wrecking. I wish u a healthy happy Pregnancy!

its so exciting to hear the first heartbeat and the wait is well worth it plus your next appt when you do hear the heartbeat your BF can hear it with you making it that much more special :0) Just think positive im sure your babys fine stay calm and take care of your slef thats all you can do...good luck!

Awwww i'm so happy for you! the first appointment is always so exciting. I can't believe you guys have to wait so long to get scans done. Down here allt he doctors have u/s machines in their office and they are all trained in it so we get a scan everytime we go. :D i've seen the baby twice already and watched it grow in a matter of 7 days.

try not to worry too much about the size...its important to stay positive like u said. (its hard though) Even though i've never had a miscarrige i'm still super nervous about losing the lil bambino. Good luck on the 14th!!!
