07-6-2009 - Mom update

My mood while writing this blog: irritated

Well mom went to the hospital in good ol Shattuck OK and of course the cracker jack box dr.s they have there sent her home saying there's nothing they can do. According to them it's just from laying still and some of her capillaries bursting. The fact of the matter is that it has to do with her liver shutting down completely and the blood that would normally flow there backing up because it has no where to go which yes can cause capillaries to burst. Her liver specialist is out of town until tomorrow so I plan on calling his office first thing and asking them to get her in to be seen. Generally in patients with liver failure this type of bleeding is not abnormal necessarily, but not a good sign any way you look at it. Thank you for all of your prayers. They are much needed and deeply appreciated. I feel like you ladies are not just a support group, but family and I'm so thankful to have all of you!

Doc in the box is the worst!! I mean, yes, when you have liver problems like your mom does, that is kind of expected but...hello?? A little comfort care at least! I'm sorry you are both going through this! I hope her regular Dr steps up with at least comfort measures if they can't do much else. (It's times like this that I am kind of glad I went into teaching after nursing school!)

I am sorry about your mom. I know how hard it can be dealing with the doctors. I still struggle with my mothers doctors. She had colon cancer and continue to have problems. But I will keep your mom in my prays. I am always praying for you. I hope that you stay strong in this rough patch in your life. Keep god close to your heart and things will work it's self out. I will be praying for you and your family.
