26-1-2010 - Maisie 3 weeks old OkMy mood while writing this blog:
Ok

Maisie is already 3 weeks old. Time seems to be flying by yet feels longer than 3 weeks since she arrived! All our days are mingled into one continuous stretch of time. With never ending expressing, travelling to and from hospital, and trying to look after the day to day running of the house, all this whilst still in pain from the c-section - but for the short precious time we are able to see Maisie its all worth it! She is still amazing the doctors. She has finally started to gain weight and now weighs 3lb 2oz. She has battled a blood infection which could have been serious and is on 2 hourly feeds of 23ml. The midwives who look after the babies all fight to look after Maisie - which is kinda cute! Because she is so tiny she spends most of the time sleeping, so on the odd occassion when she has her eyes open we're like bee's around a honey pot, just starring at her and trying to gage her attention! All her IV drips are out and we are waiting for her to reach 34-35 weeks when her sucking action should kick in and she can then be put to the breast - cant wait! She is now in her own little sleepsuits so she is looking more like a normal baby! The only anoying part is that the hospitals policy is to not allow siblings/children to visit the special care unit because of the swine flue. So our other 6 children and not yet met Maisie, which has been hard for our 3 youngest 4, 6 and 9 year olds. We have taken lots of photos for them but it is not the same as a cuddle! LOL my nesting instinct has just kicked in and i am wanting to do lots of cleaning and getting ready for the big day when she gets to come home, but because of the pain from the c-section i am having to take a back seat, which is proving really hard. This is my first and last c-section, does anyone know when the pain will get better? Its driving me insane.

Hope everyone is doing well, i do keeping checking in and reading the posts of you guys, trying to keep up with everyone's progress.

I will update in a week or two. xx

awhhh...Im glad lil maisie is going great and that she got over her infection. i imagine that seeing all the tubes in her was hard so it must have been a great day when the tubes came out. when will your other children be able to see her. is there a glass window that they can stand on one side so that they can see her now? best of luck. good job mommy! and as far as the csection, idk when i had mine, i caught a break, i wasnt in a lot of pain. sorry... but it will be over soon!

Reading your blog really brought me back to when my girls were in NICU and how HAPPY I was when the IVs were taken out - SPECIALLY the feeding tubes up their noses. I did the pump. pump, pump routine myself, however they weren't strong enough to nurse until maybe a week before their actual due date. Hope Maisie catches on quicker than that! I was so happy to read your update and think about you often!!! Hugs to you and all your rugrats!! xoxo amanda

So happy to hear from you and about your little honey! Hope you heal quickly and aren't in too much pain for too long and that Maisie gets to come home soon, so you can start being a family again. Hospital trips and being separated from the baby are sooooo hard. *Hugs*

Great news Clara! I'm so happy for little Maisie. I had a c-section as well, and I remember the pain lasting at least a month.. hope you start feeling better soon :)

Awww so glad she is progressing. Ya i have had 2 c sections it take awhile and since you are moving around alot and traveling and not getting to sit around much it will take longer then a typical person who gets to sit at home and do nothing afterwards. Take care of yourself and listen to your body !
