01-12-2008 - Praise for my 6 year old!

My mood while writing this blog: PROUD

I just got a copy of my son's first report card from Grade 1.

WOW

I'm so PROUD of him, what a glowing report card! All A's & B'c!!!

I understand in today's world A's are not so easily given out, even in grade 1. I know he has been working hard on his reading and spelling, and it looks like the hard work is paying off. He must have some built in acedemic genious, which of course would come from his mother.

I'll be honest, I think he is getting way too much homework each night. I mean, comon the kid is 6, he should come home from school and get to goof off, play outside, play videogames etc. But instead he has to hunker down and do probably about 1/2 hour to 1 hour of homework. Is this fair? I know many argue, yes of course all kids have to get their homework done, do well in school etc. But at the same time I'm paying for him to be in school at least 6 hours a day, shouldn't that be enough school work for such a young age?

Regardless, I'm so proud of him for such a good report card I can't wait to see what amazing things this young man of mine is going to accomplish in his life!
