24-6-2012 - My Birth story!! Destiny rebecca moss

It was the 19th June 2012, I was sat at home just watching t.v with my partner and I noticed I started to get contractions that were regular at about 4-5 minutes and lasting 40-50 seconds long!! Well about an hour earlier then that I noticed when I went to the bathroom That I was starting to lose my mucus plug. So I was already very excited and nervous. After my partner insisted on ringing the labor ward, They advised for me to keep timing them and go in if it gets any worse. Or they get any closer together.

After jumping in the bath to see if it eased them a little, I realised That these were probably not false labor contractions! Full of excitement my partner jumped up and rushed around the house picking toothbrushes and stuff we needed to pack....the last minute things. I was more weary because The hospital we chose was far away and I didn't want to make any false trips. Anyways we finally arrived and They hooked me up on a monitor for what seemed like forever, My back was hurting, My contractions were getting longer and more intense and I could feel that labor was going to be no easy ride. I was suffering with back labor big time!

After a couple hours they finally agreed to let me stay and have my own labor room with gas and air and also a shot of pethadine << It worked so well together!!! At this time It had gone from being 11pm at night to 7am the next morning! And Thats when I became 5cm dilated which was enough to get an epidural!

Soooo anyways I have my epidural (very hard to have when your getting contractions back to back and trying to stay still) and for the next 6-7 hours labor was a breeze, I couldn't feel nothing!! only bad point wast that in that amount of time I hadn't gotten any closer to giving birth, I had stopped dilating and my baby was lying on her side. So because of this they decided to give me a hormone shot which they said would bring on dilation and give me stronger contractions which should turn her around! Well it gave me stronger contractions definately because it stopped the epidural from working completely! but it didnt make my baby turn :(

so there I was with contractions more intense then they should have been, A baby that was stuck and still not making any progress, In the very very end... They decided That a c-section would be the best Idea as My waters had broken and there were signs of meconium ( poop) in the fluid!

So after 24 hours of back labor and a cocktail of useless drugs :) I was rolled into theatre, shaking like a leaf not knowing what to expect and my baby girl was born at 23.23pm on the 20-06-12 weighing 8lb8oz

I had to stay in hospital for 2 days Which to be honest I loved, Im a young mom, It made me feel confident knowing help was there anytime I needed it, Once I got home I suffered from post-natal depression for a little while, Simply because of the fact that I so badly wanted to have a baby naturally, And now I feel like shes been pulled out of me.. I missed my bump <3 but at least shes here and healthy! and the cutest baby ever!!! :) shes so good! only wakes once through the night and hardly cries! i truly am blessed <3 photos on soon!!
