05-9-2008 - will I jinx it?

My mood while writing this blog: excited at the possibilities

I don't want to jinx anything - but at the same time I need to celebrate some of our successes. Today Trent went back off his low flow oxygen! I'm trying not to get too excited about this because of what happened last time - but I really can't help it. He's getting stronger and getting closer to coming home! He is eating with more vigor and even if he needs to take a few breaks through out the feeding, he's doing it. They took him off the machine that feeds him slowly over 30 minutes (when he gets tube fed) and now he's on a gravity feed - which is the next step. He hasn't had any issues with reflux or anything - which is quite common in preemies - so he just needs the energy to eat on his own all the time. I am so proud of my little man, my little fighter!!

I know I could go into the hospital tomorrow morning and everything could have changed overnight - but I'm keeping my fingers, toes, legs, arms and eyes crossed that we are really taking these positive steps forwards and don't go back.
