15-7-2010 - Balian 1 month old

My mood while writing this blog: Tired

Balian is one month old already...that's insane! He had his one-month appointment yesterday, he was 11 lbs, 8 ounces and 22 inches! So he's a big boy :)

We've had some trouble with feeding...he's almost constantly hungry, wants to feed every half hour or so, so we've had to add in formula to supplement my milk. I still am feeding him primarily with breastmilk, but when he is crying for more food and he just drained me, well...there isn't much I can do. Especially since he WILL NOT sleep without a full tummy. Sleep really has been the hardest part so far. He hates sleeping and will spend hours fighting us even though he's so tired he can't even open his eyes. Today was one of those days...he only sleeps 3-4 hours at night still, and sometimes we'll get unlucky and he'll sleep for an hour and then spend an hour "talking" to himself in his co-sleeper and trying to work himself up to cry. For the most part he's a good baby, but he is clingy.

He's incredibly strong...since the day he was born, he was holding his head up to a certain degree, and now he can pretty much hold it up indefinitely, although he is a bit wobbly still. :) He pushed himself over while laying on his tummy the other day, and we've gotten a few scattered smiles out of him. Last night he looked me dead in the eyes and gave me a big old smile, it just melted my heart.
