| 13-1-2010 - IT'S A BOY!!!! | My mood while writing this blog:Content |
...but I already knew that. Call it a mother's intuition. ![]()
Okay, so I've been waiting for this for...well, weeks. First and foremost, he's perfectly healthy as the medical community judges it. He's on track; the ultrasound tech said he's 'beautiful'. She also remarked that he had a big head, lol. I hope he grows into it. :P
When she first turned on the machine, he was (I guess) sleeping, or at least quiescient...had his little arms over his face (which he kept over his face for the entire ultrasound; definitely my husband's son), and his legs crossed. She measured his head and checked his heartbeat (145, which is quite a bit lower than 4 weeks ago), and I told her we were interested in knowing the sex. Once she checked his brain, spine and legs, she set about getting him to uncross his legs long enough for us to check between them.
I love the shots she got of him as a boy though, there is NO doubting that he's got a little package, lol. I was worried that a) he wouldn't cooperate (which he didn't), and b) they'd get a bad picture and get it wrong. Nope, no mistaking it. It's a boy. So! Balian Christopher is set to enter the world on June 11th, 2010. What day he ACTUALLY shows is up to him, and, I suppose, my body. Still got a few months and quite a bit more to go through before then.
I had my first shot of maternal love finally...so far this baby has been a nuisance, but after seeing him wiggling and kicking his little legs on screen, I'd go through it all and ten thousand times more to see him safely through to life. I tried to commit every single moment to memory, make it such a part of me that I'll never forget. My husband was leaning forward in his seat, eyes bright, staring at the screen with fascinated intensity.
I guess it's standard practice at this particular doctor's office to record the ultrasound and give it to the parents on a DVD. How cool is that! So I've been able to watch him wiggle and kick (and do the two-step on my bladder, as the tech called it, with his perfect little feet - so THAT'S why I feel like I have to pee all the time) whenever I want to. :3
He's so perfect. I feel him all the time now, just little gentle nudges usually. He sleeps mostly in the morning, and he'll be active in the afternoon and evening (not at night, though, he likes his sleep!). In the evening usually is when I'll get the big punches and kicks, the ones you can feel from the outside. They still startle me, but I'm getting used to the nudges and "flutters" always being there. It's still a little disconcerting when he rolls, though.
My son. What an odd thing to think.
