So painless regular contractions started on wed at around 5 pm.. right when they were finishing the World Series game! And I went into the hospital only after watching the Phillies win the world series… but the dr said since they were not painful I could go home, so I did. Then on Friday oct.31^st I had been having painless contraction every 2mins.. and so I didn’t think anything of it, I was just sitting around that day watching TV, waiting to go to my dr appt at 4pm. So when we got to the dr she checked my weight and everything and I actually lost 5 pounds… crazy I know! Then the dr came in checked baby’s heart beat and noticed it had dropped to about 120 which did not make her happy. So she ordered a stress test on baby and had me go over to the hospital, but before that she check my cervix to see if anything had changed and I was about one cm dilated.

So then we drove over to the hospital where they watched baby and he passed the test, but then I was told I couldn’t go home cause I was having contractions, and I was like umm I have been having these painless contractions since wed. but they were actually starting to get semi painful.. and I figured since the dr had checked me, maybe she had stirred something up down there. And I figured they would go away, so I lied and said I couldn’t feel them even though they were starting to become so painful, I just really wanted to go home to my own bed and take a bath. So finally after being there for 3 hours they let me go home. And on the way home they were getting super super painful, so I went straight up stairs and got in the bath, which made them feel a little better. Then when I got out I got straight into bed but the pain would not go away so about an hour after being at home I realized ok I need to go back, maybe it is actually time. So we got my bag and everything we needed and headed back to the hospital. Only thing was, I was being stubborn and wouldn’t allow anyone else to drive me so I drove myself to the hospital with very painful contractions happening every 2 mins and lasting 1 mins. Super hard to drive that way… let me tell you!

So we got to the hospital and they said “oh back so soon” and I just kinda looked at them. Then they hooked me up on the monitor as I was gripping the bed handles as each contraction came. By now my contractions were still 2 mins apart and lasting 1 min. and after each contraction I would feel like I had to pee super bad, so after each contraction would end I would try to hurry to the bathroom and pee… but by the time I got to the bathroom another one would hit and I would be sitting there on the toilet in major pain. And once when I wiped I saw a HUGE glob of mucus! So I figured… ok there went my mucus plug…

So finally I started to tell the nurse to give me something for the pain, and since I was actually finally dilating they said they would get the lab tests started for an epidural, and by now it was about 10pm. So they came in took all the test they needed to and then we had to play the waiting game. I didn’t get the epidural until 2am!!!!! But wow once they gave it to me I wasn’t able to feel a thing. And then that is when they told me “you better get some sleep because this baby will most likely be here by 8am tomorrow morning” and I was like “WHAT?!” so soon? I figured he would maybe be here by the afternoon but not the morning! So they put a cathider in me and turned off all the lights and what not and I for sure quickly fell asleep. Let me tell you that was the best sleep I have ever gotten while pregnant, no having to get up to pee, not feeling any of the pain… truly amazing! They came and checked on me and checked my cervix like every hour.. but I was so out of it I didn’t even care, I remember her coming in and checking my cervix and seeing blood come out.. which was my blooding show.. and her telling me I was 7 cm… I was like uhhh ok… then went back to sleep… then at about 5:30am they came in to check my cervix and said “ok your ready to push” and I was thinking ummm no way I know my mom and dad are here… but John and Loren aren’t here so there is no way im pushing til they show up” so they asked if I was feeling any pressure to push and I lied and said “no” so they said ok we will come back and check on you in a bit. But before they left I asked if they could give me anything for the itchiness… which they did, they gave me benadryl BAD IDEA! It was given to me through IV so it made it hit me worst since it made me superrrrrrrrr sleepy. To the point where I couldn’t stay awake for ANYTHING.

So even though they wanted me to push I couldn’t at all.. so when they asked are you feeling pressure to push.. I would lie and say no, so thankfully they would leave me alone for an hour and I would sleep! Then finally about 9:30 they came in and checked me out and saw that my baby’s head was very far down and they had to pop my water.. and when they did that they found out that my baby poo’d while in me.. and that made him a high risk when being born. So they didn’t want him to take that first breath of life until they were able to suck out the poo. So then they said ok its time to push.. and I was so tired and out of it and said “uh huh” so between each round of pushing I would literally fall back asleep.. so I don’t remember a lot of the pushing.. there was no pain that was for sure.. but I was just sooo tired cause of the benadryl. so after about an hour and a half of pushing my baby was here. It was so awesome because as he was crowning.... i got to feel his head as it was just crowing and let me tell you, it was so unreal. i couldnt believe i was feeling his head before he was even out of me! They got the poo out before he was able to inhale it.. thank god! And yes i did tear a little on my own, and they gave me one or two stitches, and yes i did check out my plecenta once it came out! Anyways baby Bo was born at 11:01am on 11-01...i love that! and he is just so perfect in every way! I love him so much!
