I had my 16 week doc appt today but was turned away.........
I got my approval for Medicaid a couple of weeks ago but never got a insurance card in the mail. Saturday I received my papers to call a number to pick between CareSource and 2 other medicaid insurance companies, I called this morning and picked CareSource (what I had with my son so I knew my doc's office accepted it) and I mentioned to the lady I hadn't received a card from Healthy Start/Healthy Families and she gave me the billing number to give my doc's office and that should be ok. Well it wasn't. They didn't accept the number. But they told me I could be seen today if I paid them $525........sure, I crap money, no biggie. Seriously? Who can fork over that much money? I'm on Medicaid for heaven's sake!!! So we went home and I prob won't be seen again until next month, the lady said I should get my insurance card by Feb 1st, that seems ages away! Its only Jan 11th!!
When the receptionist said they couldn't see me today (and of course the office was full of patients so everyone heard) I felt like white trash-no insurance, no money. I'm definitely not, just felt like it today.
Just feeling really down and like I'm a burden to everyone and most of all I'm worried something will happen to my baby. My last doc appt was Dec 15 so I will be going a full month and a half without prenatal care, that really, really, really, bothers me.

They had set me up with a payment plan of $525 starting this month til April, that would cover all my doc appts and my delivery.

Well not long after I wrote this I got the mail and guess what was in there?! My healthy start/healthy families insurance card! Lol, so I rescheduled my doc appt for Saturday morning so I'll still be seen in week 16! I'm so relieved! But still upset they wouldn't see me even though they had the billing number, ha and on the insurance card it says for them to call the number and send the claims to it! They could have done that today and got their stupid money!
