11-4-2008 - Doctor's appointment Anxious! My mood while writing this blog:
Anxious!

So...at my first appointment last month I found that my new insurance does not cover the doctor that I'd been going to for years and years...the one I was very comfortable with and delivered my son! I was less than thrilled. Because I have a PPO insurance I can still go to him but the insurance only covers 40%. I'm a freakin nurse...shouldn't I be able to go anywhere for free!!! Not only am I a nurse but I am an OB nurse!! Anyway...before I had found that out many nurses that I work with were asking why I was not going to deliver at the hospital I work with...they said that I would get VIP treatment and everything would be wonderful. At the time I thought...how WEIRD would that be?!!?!? But I started thinking that as much as I liked the hospital I had delivered my son in, they weren't very good nurses and they rarely checked me, etc. So the thought of changing doctors HAD crossed my mind but I probably would not have done it without the insurance issue. So...since that appointment I had an ultrasound (I had a very small amount of bleeding, dark, more than likely old blood but I wanted to make sure everything was ok) and everything was fine. Baby was in there kicking around and his/her heartbeat very strong :)

I went to my new doctor yesterday and was asking him questions about stuff that I wanted...I have a preference in the anesthesia (I work with post op csection patients and I know what works!), I told him that I didn't want staples like he does for everyone else...and he said we could do whatever I wanted. So I'm feeling much better.

BTW..I had surgery when I was younger and was unable to have a vaginal delivery with my son so I will obviously be having a repeat csection. I probably wouldn't be able to handle labor anyway :)

At my appointment yesterday I got to hear my peanuts heartbeat which was so excited!! And I go for another ultrasound next Thursday...yaaay :)
