28-5-2009 - Grace arrives!

Just updating and dont want to lose anything so putting them as blogs...

So as you know i was being induced as the placenta is struggling with the end of this pregnancy. Had a sweep yesterday afternoon which took me from 4 to 5cms. Went home sorted out Brandon hes stopping with my brother Mark for the night. Visited our freinds down the road for a coffee Tracy was getting really excited and kept saying i cant believe you are so calm and that your 5cms dilated! Had a chinese take away for dinner. Went to bed feeling no pains begged John for sex to try and get this thing going. He refused maybe one of the first time ever!!!

So im SCARED and i have cried alot over this weekend. I soo wanted a home birth and had it all prepared. Im scared of having the contractions brought on by drugs and that the birth is going to be out of my control and that the birth plan we wanted is just not going to happen. This baby is our last and i just wanted to have a home birth so my older two could make their our choices as to be in the room with me or not. To be free to wonder and laour around my own house.

Anyway next morning still nothing so off we set to the hospital for 9am. Georgie has decided to be there too!! We get to the hospital they check me and ive not dilated anymore so the midwife tries to break my waters she cant so brings in another after a few tries it breaks and ohhhh my are there lots of water! It gushes for what seems like ages. The only way to discribe it is having a very big wee with no control whatso ever! Im laughing as the feeling is so weird the more i laugh the more water comes out!. We are then left for 2 hrs for me to start contracting nothing so we go off for a walk to try getting them going they start very mild and about 5-10mins apart. DH drags me back to the ward as midwife wants me back to start the drugs :-(.

So i put on the tens machine and nearly electricute myself going to the toilet as i move the dial up! I get put on the drugs at 2pm and im crying as its so not what i want im sobbing my heart out when the contractions start and they are painful straight away! Midwife makes me panick as she says the contractions arent being picked up by the motitor im now strapped to. Start to cry again as im in pain the monitor isnt picking them up and its only been on for 45mins and i know theres along way to go and start to worry im not going to do this and end up with a csection. Suddenly im throwing the tens machine and sucking the gas and air like its going out of fashion and i screaming i need to push. Bed goes up as far as it can and the Midwife says go ahead if thats what you need to do. So i start cying again "its happening to fast" I push through the burning pain for half and hour when the babies born they place the baby straight into my arms and im cring and holding my baby. The midwife asks what we.ve had an i remember we didnt look! OH MY GOD IVE GOT MY BABY GIRL I SOO WANTED BABY GRACE ELA SUMMER!!! WHOOOO HOOOO. Our daughter Georgie cuts the cord and i get to cuddle skin to skin with my baby for an hour before they weigh her.

She is so worth all the pain and im in love with her she was born weighing 6lb 14oz and 47cms long. Shes so tiny and so purfect!
