My mood while writing this blog: sick/tired

Hi Ladies!!

I just wanted to stop by quickly and say sorry for not being around for a while, it has been a crazy week as always in my life.

First off, Andersen is the only baby I have had, not that I have many, who can stay awake for many, many hours at a time, especially from 11:00 pm until 6:00 am or a little later. He will scream, nurse, look around, scream, nurse, and start all over. It is hard to be up over 24 hours!

Next, I developed a yeast infection on the breast from nursing and it is very uncomfortable. I have never experienced this before so I am learning about it as I go. I called the OBs office and the NP said" I really had hoped all your troubles would have ended with the pregnancy." I told her I hoped so too. Guess not!

Then, yes, there is more, the cold I mentioned I had last week is now walking pneumonia and I am coughing up my lungs. Not fun when you are recovering from a c section; my incision is in a bit of pain even though it has been a month to the day. (It is Anders b-day today, 1 month old!!) The hardest part is there is nothing you can take for the cough and all I can take for my nose is Sudafed. The doctor gave me antibiotics to help clear it up.

I guess I have to go to work tomorrow even though I do not feel up to it. Some old biddy complained that I have not been at work and DH hadn't filled in for me so why am I getting paid. Well, I am still on maternity leave (at least I thought I was) and DH hadn't been there because he was due back last week and I was deathly ill so he stayed with me. I never worked when the girls were born so this is hard for me. I would leave if I didn't need the money and love my job.

I'll tell you, sometimes I just wish for a perfect, trouble free day!! My life has felt like a whirlwind of problems for the last couple years. Of course there are wonderful blessings mixed in there, but the road has been a bumpy one that's for sure!

Now that I have made a short story long, I just wanted to let you know why I have been M.I.A. I am going to try to catch up with everyone soon!

WENDY! How ARE you?! I think about you often!! And that sweet new baby boy!!

Ahhh, yes. Blessings and trials do often seem to come together don't they?? Darn it! LOL! It IS adjustment to welcome a new baby blessing -- our lives are pretty much carved out a certain way and along comes this new person - so helpless, so dependent, so unique and so trying to communicate that uniqueness to us so we can HELP THEM! I have had a few rough moments when I feel frazzled and my patience wears a bit thin. Then I take a deep breath and look at his little face... my heart melts afresh and I feel guilty for being tired and selfish... and we start again!

My precious Ty can be demanding as well. He eats about every 2 hours (more about that hopefully in a blog) but Tom doesn't get up with him. He has to go to work in the morning, I (thankfully!) don't. I just put him (Ty - not Tom! ha!) next to me in bed and nurse him while we both go back to sleep. Consequently, most nights we spend together. Sadly, this wakes up Tom so Ty and I move into his room where we still have a twin bed up till morning... this is an arrangement I have never made before and always would have though unacceptable, but it seems to work best for everyone now so it is what it is.

Yes, knowing that these rough spots are temporary makes them not so rough. I keep focusing on the transience of his babyhood! I try to absorb each moment and each stretch and each funny face and each little sound... it all goes away...

I remember one month (Ty turned 7 weeks today! Can't believe it! -see above paragraph!-) and how my incision still hurt! Unbelievably, it finally has stopped! Just when I thought it never would!! Hallelujah! How wonderful to enjoy good health and to feel strength once again flow! I actually went to the fabric store today and am having creative thoughts again!!! Haven't had many of those since last December!!!

And I also understand what you mean about having several kids - the older ones having their own struggles and causing a particular stress. My 17-year-old still needs quite a bit of parenting (even though he may not agree with that statement!). That is precisely why I'm on the computer at 2:00 am -- I run my legs off for everyone else all day -- this is the only time I have! :)

So good to hear from you. Ty is hungry -- gotta run! Hopefully I will blog a little...
