14-8-2008 - Kidney Infection at 32 Weeks concernedMy mood while writing this blog:
concerned

Hi ladies,

For the last few days I have been having terrible back pain. I had passed it off as just the weight of carrying the twins. Last night around midnight I had the most unbelievable pain. My husband rushed me to the ER where they diagnosed a severe kidney infection. They checked our girls first and they are fine, they both have strong heartbeats and are in no apparant distress. I am on Macrobid antibiotics and Vicodin. They tell me that Kidney infections are the number 1 cause for pre-term labor. Right now I am trying to flush as much stuff through my bladder as possible and hope that it clears quickly. My OB has decided not to admit me to hospital but to wait until Friday and if it's not appearing to clear she will change the meds and possibly admit me to hospital. So that's what is going on. On a happier note we just visited the U/S Specialist I am under and each girl weighs almost 4 pounds each, and they are both active and doing well. I hope everyone is doing well and trust God is watching your little one's. Our best to all, take care and God Bless.

Gina and Derek.

DON'T FEEL TOO BAD...I WAS IN THE SAME SITUATION AT THE END OF JULY....THEY THOUGHT I HAD A SEVERE KIDNEY INFECTION AND I WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR 3 DAYS AND THEN PUT ON MACROBID FOR THE REST OF MY PREGGO AND GIVEN VICODIN FOR PAIN BUT IT DID NOT WORK....WE WENT FOR OUR U/S AND THE GIRLS ARE BOTH ALMOST 4LBS EACH NOW ALSO...ONE WAS 3.15 AND THE OTHR3.9 SO...WE WERE EXCITED ABOUT THAT...TAKE CARE!!!

I am glad you got treatment quickly! I am sure it is painful and I am glad to hear you are doing well! That is wonderful about the babies too! If something happened in the next few weeks with them weighing good weights chances are they would do just fine!!!

Wow! Scary stuff! I hope it clears very quickly! At 32 weeks they'd do well - but you'd have to leave them in hospital - so I'll keep you in my prayers that all your "flushing" works!
